I posted this reply on a well known uk forum , the moderator removed it and called it racially charged bull crap :o Is it ???
Remember im a Pom by Birth and grew up with real british champions like Noyce , Hudson and Thorpe :)
The bloke who removed the Post "Kosy" is apparantly entitled to his opinion ::)
You may be correct but there are sayings like dont bite the hand that feeds you and have some respect for those that got you where you are today.I know for a fact there are people in europe who are genuinly hurt by that comment. How disrespectful can you be? if the US dream does't work out that comment will come back to bite him.
If that US dream dont work out :lol::lol:
2002 rookie season wins SX lites title
2003 2nd to the goat in SX
2004 Wins SX
2005 2nd to the goat
2006 2nd to the goat
2007 2nd to stewart
2008 wins SX
2009 2nd to stewart
2009 wins outdoors
2010 SX out due to injury
2010 Currently 2nd in outdoors
I think hes lived the dream and anything else now is a bonus :xbeer:
I consider myself lucky to have known Chad since he was a kid :) Chad comes from a humble background and has worked bloody hard to get where he is today.
Chad came to the UK in 1996 as a 13 yr old and rode for Andy hieghtman of Bortech suzuki and cleaned up all the poms could offer  Chad was gived dispensation to ride a 125cc and still cleaned up all you Poms had to offer inc your Current open MX champion.
Chad rode one season in europe in 2000 in the premier class and finished 2nd to M pichon. im happy to be corrected but i believe this was and still is the highest placing for a rookie in the Premier class :)
Chad has on many occasions publicly stated how much he enjoyed his time in Europe and credits the late Jan de groot with building him into the champion he has become.
Chad throughout his career has dealt with negative public opinion from many areas , when he went to the states the seppos didn't like him because hes not one of theirs, the Aussies got up him because he spoke like a Seppo  and now you Poms are into him beacause he tells it like it is :-?
Bottom line i dont imagine Chad gives a fat rats arse what you blokes think of him , his results do the talking for him :) and if you judge him on one interview ( that doesn't come across real well) you were never really fans anyway.
Why dont you put your negative energy into trying to build a true champion of your own  lets face it since DT retired who have you had :-? Credit to James Dobb but for a population of 70 million you really do have a piss poor record

You just interuppted their little whinge session - which is no excuse for bad moderation like you just copped.
Try again without the the reference to the lack of fast poms in recent times, and see how you go.
PS: Reading that thread made me stupider. I reckon it would only take a couple of re-reads and I'll want to buy a Bultaco. On the bright side, it reminds me how far above the average this forum is.
-
Thanks Nathan , this thread is not about if you like chad or not , its about freedom of speech.
The genius who pulled my thread feels it ok to call chad a "shallow brain dead half wit" and apparantly thats ok >:(
We are very lucky that Graeme allows us freedom of speech on here and why every day i truly appreciate how lucky i am to live in this part of the world :)
-
Freedom of speech? Nah, I'm just too lazy to moderate properly.
Looking at Kosy's reply shows him to be an overly sensitive Pommy git. Luckily, I'm an insensitive Aussie git...

Have you seen his latest reply :o the mans a disgrace >:( obviously his whippet wont turn it up for him , his beers got cold , and his homing pidgeons wont come home ;D
Hes from the north so probably has trouble finding time to practice MX in the half hr of daylight they get up there in summer ;) so thats making him grumpy.

Ira you have stirred a hornets nest.
I suspect that they will challenge you to a duel with muskets at dawn.Thats is so jolly unfair you beastly chap.
Those damn colonials how dare they question our glorious scrambles.
This is why England has gone to the dogs and why anyone with half a brain has/is emigrating to Aussie or NZ. :-*

Young Bill definitely fits that description. :)

The 'Racist' card is always the first card pulled from the deck by a desparate, small minded man [don't believe me then look our inbred politicians ;)].
There is nothing racist in your post at all. Tell him to 'get a big black dog up ya!' and see how he reacts…
I think Brad [or should I say Joel] summed it up best… 'Pommie gits'.
And remember if you think he is cranky now, wait till the new government is finished with him, he will be truly pissed off ;D
-
Ah screw it,I couldnt resist and threw a hand grenade on mxtrax,no one picks on my man Ira and gets away with it!!!

Hey Craig,

Lets have a vote; lets make Bill an Honorary Australian - even throw in an Order of Australia ;D.
(I think you hit the nerve with the word 'Pom'. Go back and write the same thing and substitute the word 'Englishman' ;) :D)

Feeling the love boys feeling the love :-*
Davey Crocket nicknamed me the Black Pom ;D Guess i fit that description now :)
What shits me more than anything with the motherland is that we invented all sorts of sports and gradually become 2nd rate at all of them ::)
Then instead of stepping up and lifting the game its easier to hang shit on those at the top of the game ::)
It seems now they want to play the bloody PC card as well as the Race card :-[
Britain was once a World MX super power :) only in the last couple of years losing the record for most MXDN wins to the Seppos >:(
The current crop of Pommy Mxers need to man up >:( they owe it to the former legends like Stonebridge, Smith, Rickman, Bickers, Eastwood, Allan,Banks, Noyce, Hudson, Thorpe and Dobb.
I did my bit :) I grew up racing with Noyce, Hudson and Thorpe :) but i didnt dip into the talent pool to much so there was plenty left for them ;D Obviously all the Poms want a bit now ( like all selfish young bastards these days ) so its spread a bit thin :D
I would love to see a Brit on top of the world stage, but i think i will be waiting a while ::)
Now dont start me on the Kiwis ::) Behind Ben Townley (who i truly believe we have yet to see the best of )theres just a big Vaccum :(

Just took a look [and even watched the Reed footage]. What a crock of s#%t.
Talk about a bunch of oversensitive, tea sippin' whingers.
VMX42
Just one serious point though. Just spare a though for these guys [racers/sports people] that get interviewed and have to endlessly talk about themselves and there feelings and performances. Try it sometime and see if you don't sound like a complete, arrogant jerk. And then to have people replay your words and tear them to pieces - most of my sentences would end up on Funniest Home Videos. Just shows why they have to have thick skins. Rant end here.
and P.S. we luv ya Bill!! And you are right - Townley is coming!!!

Hey Bill, we have a vacancy for PM at the mo, do you want to throw your hat into the ring?

Lets do some horse trading. I'll agree for your VMX week ends off if you'll agree to make all VMX costs refundable through Medibank on the grounds the medically beneficial results for old farts ;D.

Shit Graeme if i get in do you want the finance ministers post :)

Tame really to the trolls that inhabit crash.net and the keyboard fury they direct at 'our' Casey Stoner

Just read the Bailey article in VMX last night and that's exactly what they both were saying even in the US-namely that the young guys don't have to work hard enough and moan like shit when it all goes wrong for them.
Chad has/is working his butt off and his results show where as most others just show up.
The vaccum you speak of in NZ is there for sure but has been 20 yrs coming when you look at who has gone before him and I hope you are right in saying his best is yet to come.
I think Sth America will be the next MX superpower now that Dakar has gone there, this will bring lots of new kids to the sport from hot blooded latin lads mixed with their wish to get out of poverty and seeing this as their avenue.

Interesting theory!! Haven't heard that one before, if you are right then you can say "I TOLD YOU SO" loud and proud. :D
You heard it here first on OzVMX.
-
LOL --or the other theory is they will come from Afghanastan-have you seen how they can punt an old roady up a desert road while hanging on to an AK47??
-
…or the other theory i…
Good to see you have narrowed it down to two possibilities!
Any more would just be frivolous. ;D

Been the same in Oz for how long, 20 years? There's been 4-5 at or near the top and then an enormous gap in talent/commitment. The fact that Chad (and Casey and a few others) was able to find the drive to raise above that says one hell of a lot for his character for me. (And I love his smooooth riding style 8)).

I'll turn a blind eye at Vic Allan on that list of Poms. ;D
It's been quite barren since Thorpe & Nicoll parked it, aside from that awesome season of Malin vs Tortelli in 96, Dobber's world title and that des Nations win in 94.
England needs to lift their game. Scotland only has a pool of 4 million-odd to pick riders from, we can't keep carrying Team GB forever.. 8)

About Chads style. Smooth is not the word - more like fliud- like pouring on custard. How does he stay with the bike so well?
-
Check it out Bills mates back, and guess what he takes exception to being called a Pommie, what a total dribbling poofter! oops I mean homosexual!!! ;D :D

Welcome Back Lady Bradlot,I thought you'd got lost in that CZ timewarp :-*

Ah screw this, abusing you is old hat, back to mxtrax for some sport.
;D

I concur!

OOPs Dont mention the shrinkwrap!!!!!!

Fun thread.
Let's see how they react to my post....
One thing that struck me two days ago, I was watching the US National series on the TV. The top few positions were mostly filled by Aussies and Kiwis. How good is that?
Geoff Eldridge would have been so proud, and so am I.
-
I concur!
jolly good show, old chap!
-
I Love winding that Pommie git up!
But he is clearly lacking a few sandwiches from the old picnic hamper....
-
I've read through the MXTRAX thread and was considering to join in or not ::). What amazes me, and which I would like to question, is why do GB based Poms take such exceptions to the word 'Pom'. I have never used it as an insult and never heard any one use it as such. In fact quite the opposite, it is used as a term of endearment, familiarity and even affection. How many Pommy Petes are there, Pommy Rob, Pommy Mate or just plain old Pom. I've even known a few Pommies call "Ya Pommy dickhead' or ' ya pommy bastard' with affection.
I have also noted with amusement that there has been a fairly construed and concerted recent effort to label us as 'convicts' - and that is intended as an insult. Of course it has no effect - 50% of Aussies with names like Kilwolski or Nu look back at them blankly with a 'what the fork are you on about' look on their face. Whereas Anglo-Irish ratbags like my self with convict blood look back at them thinking 'yes, yes, yes, thank you, thank you, thank you for sending my forebearers away from dank cold stodgy claustrophobic England to the wide open sunny climes of Oz'.
I think the two issues of the thread are linked - the Poms willingness to take exception to Reedy and to take exception to being called Poms. As Lozza points out the same juvenile chauvinism can be seen in their attitude towards Casey. Casey has won races, set lap records and still get booed by Pommy crowds and scathingly attacked in the Pommy media for the slightest misdemeanor, perceived or real.
I think it might be their own frustration with lack of success that bubbles over as indignity at being called Poms.
-
I really feel for poor Kosy now ::)
He's dug himself a big hole and cant get out- even his own forum members are giving him dictionary lessons :-\
My dad spent 45 years shearing sheep as a Pom in Oz and loved everyday on the boards-with great Aussie mates and the sheep. :)
They couldn't quiet work out why he talked to the sheep while shearing them and then realized days later never had to stitch one either.
They gave him stick about sheep talking ,but he gave it back.
He was fair as where the Aussies-Dad was always there to teach the young shed hands.Great memories of days in the sheds on school holidays. 8)
RIP Ron the Pom
