I had a fully complied 84 XC 250 back in the day, and my current 83 XC250 has a compliance plate as well.

My 82 430 XC has a compliance plate also. Not sure who did it - importer or dealer or owner?

Notice the Trooper Lu 1983 Husky XC 500 on eBay and Gumtree for $10k and $9.5k respectively. Guess they didn't get the memo about VMX bikes not selling for top dollar anymore  ::) ::) It's a nice bike but not worth anything near that price. Be lucky to get $5k I reckon. Never get your money back on the Resto ....but that's not why we do it  ;D

its a bit of a hangover from 12 - 18 months ago when well to do baby boomers decided they would buy the first old bike they used to have. it will be there for a while thats for sure (my thoughts)

Dealers had blank compliance plates for Huskies and they would engrave the details them selfs when needed, I still have a blank one in my old tool box.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

i have brought in 6 xc 500 from the usa from memory,beautifull too ride.is yours a bitch too start?also see for sale ,i have some husky bits for sale including 83/84 bits

I like mine and seemingly most of the husky gurus here have reported similar feelings, might just be better than a CR500, but yes when cold can be a bit temperamental starting at times. Certainly not a daily ride bike, but great to go for a blast on to clear your mind, or to beat that maico brako on the track.

 Any info on jetting specs from Husky XC/CR 500 owners much appreciated . (staying with 40mm Mikuni)
  I had only a brief  ride  (around  factory unit carpark ) prior to purchase .
 Bike started  easy enough but  will need more of  a boot with a fresh engine.

Start a thread on Cafe Husky vintage left kickers / restoration page. there are several 500 resto's going on with all the guff on how to tidy them up.... Husky parts .com has all the manuals so download the 500 one, print it out so you can work out where all the right nuts and bolts go... You will be on the seat ;D :D

The 500 Husky is a piece of cake to start if you fit a decomp device to the head and make sure it gets enough fuel by using a 55 pilot jet as a minimum. Anything smaller and it won't start without throwing some fuel down the plug hole!

For the 40mm carb Paul Rooney recommended
Slide - 2.5
Pilot jet 55 - 65
Needle AA0
Main 370  - 380
Float level 19mm

I run a 38mm carb on my 500 auto and it goes well. Have thought about trying the 40 for more top end but I figure I would only get more hurt!

Resto is looking good  :D

 Thanks for the jetting tips .
I have not looked at carb yet.
The bike starts fairly easily ; 4 or 5 kicks cold  ; 1 or 2 warm;
 New piston & rod kit  now here  so will be  starting engine rebuild  in the next week .
