For the big bore whores!

Decided to get the 84 500 back together , as I ratted parts for the 85 (front brakes) and 83 ( rear guard). plus it had heaps of dust from sitting, so I gave it a wash. Then I thought I would get them together for a bit of a photo shoot. Just thought I'd share.
When lined up it just shows you how many parts DONT interchange from one to the next. I always here the 70's had huge changes in bikes but there are plenty of differences in these three year models, thats for sure.
Nothing from an 83 interchanges. The wheels, front end and bottom end parts will interchange between the 84 and 85.

Great pics Brad and i love those 3 models you have. i love this era. its a great collection in itself.

85 & 86 are the beasts of the Honda big bore range, after that they mellowed them done (and rightly so) to make them easier to ride.

the 86' is close to the 85 but lots of small changes as well once you look into it, 87 onwrds are different again.

Hoony - I thought the urban legend was that the 84 was the greatest ever Honda big bore?

even though it is has one hear less than the 83 i reckon it looks a lot better that is a beast caps get that mugen on there :)

I have an 81 and 82 but they need restoring. They are a fair way down the list as well. I will be updating the 83 pic's when i get the trick forks on and the Mugen kit re-plated and fitted .
Here are the forks. Never seen internals like this before. It was pointed out to me that the bottoms seem to be magnessium as they are very light.

Those forks are interesting. The top cap with adjuster looks exactly like the aftermarket White Power fork kits available in the early 80's although i thought the knobs were red not blue.
