No such thing as just a standard bike Hoony. At least with a project bike I can modify/cheat, but with an original bike I feel the restore is harder. I would like to see you post pictures of the build up Hoony as I live over here and cant get to see the bikes, resto's, and projects that you guys get to do. I think all forms of projects are worthy of having their story told, because of the problems we all face when rebuilding something which can help the next guy. Or it may even incourage others to do up their bikes. It doesnt matter what the end result looks like because some guys dont want/like the "off the show room look" and others like the bling look, compared to the old patina. Some just want a very reliable properly functioning bike. I think thats one of the great things about VMX is that its so deverse, weather you want to spent mega $$$$ or ride her as she comes, its all good.

I have to disagree with you Hoony; I for one would love to see another project thread.
A lot of effort goes into these things and I enjoy looking at the photos of DJ's bike as it evolves.
Garn, post some photos!

I'm with Wombat Hoony - put it up.  Anyone that's doing (or done) a resto will appreciate the work that you have put in.  Even if it's a Honda you will still get a few interested people (sorry couldn't resist :P).

Awesome resto DJ - it's coming along really well.  You are certainly putting me to shame with the speed you are getting this together.  It looks great - well done  ;)  I will pull my finger out on this resto

Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

Remember DJ is doing the resto in his lounge room; and if he's married that would explain the speed at which the project is travelling...! ;D

That's a very good point wombat.  I just laughed out loud and my missus looked at me funny  :D :D
Last time I pointed out to DJ that his missus was going to be pissed about the stains on the carpet - he reckoned some things can be replaced.  He was joking of course  ;D ;D

Ok guys, the reason the resto is happening in the lounge is because the garage is full and so is the spare bedroom, so the lounge it is ;D ;D ;D I'm lucky Karen is very understanding, she realises that I'm a good boy and say my daily prayers ;) ;D ;D. And lets face facts here anyway, when she wants to do some sewing I dont make her go out to the garage :o ;D ;D

The triples and forks went together last night as did the back wheel. I have been looking around for a set of handlebars but havnt liked any, althought not having the bike built up hasnt helped getting the right size bars, but I have ordered a set so I hope they are right(if not they will get used on another bike).
Its surprizing how the little things still need tweaking, like brake pedal springs and a few other bits but she should be a rolling chassis by Wednesday/Thursday.

Its home made out of 6mm marine ali and I have a brake snake for it because it will bend and I dont know how long it will last but if it gets me through the year I will be happy. I have just been working on the brake pedal, because of the hole for the pin to hold the brake rod on was a guess, there is extra lenght there so instead of cutting it off I thought a good idea would be to drill 2 extra holes so I have adjustable braking leverage. Yamaha are notorious for having vicious rear brakes and if this helps then all is good but if not, it was worth a shot.

The extra holes for adjustable brake leverage

The brake snake.

Will I have gone about as far as I can this weekend with the bike. I stuffed up getting the bearing for the back wheel, I have a 6203 when it should be a 6302 ::). I have to get cables, bars, grips, tyres and modify some foot peg springs to fit. The engine is in getting repaired because one of the engine mounts is broken off and then I will blast the engine and paint it.
Does the list of things to do ever get smaller ::) ;D ;D

MX250, I shaved about 1.5mm off the fork legs. I know it doesnt sound allot but it has changed the look and because this is a rider I didnt want to go to far.
I'm just waiting on parts to arrive now before the next big session on the bike.

DJ,
Firstly great job, that tank is a work of art......straight to the pool room, although you probaly don't get that.
here is a bit of info on Noguchi that I found, info seems a little scarce though.
