In a serious light (because I've been called to order) Mark, I think everybody is to a greater or lesser degree. There's nothing wrong with drawing distinctions between people. It's natural. But there's everything wrong with acting on the predjudices. In the old SA it was wrong because not only were those predjudices acted upon but they were institutionized and took the form of social engineering (in the long term it was also economic suicide).
Bill, yeah. When I arrived I was surprised at how much venom is directed towards the Maoris and the PI's. I had this impression that NZ was pretty easy going about the whole race thing. Boy was I wrong. Strangely I haven't come across much here (in Aus) in spite of the countries reputation. I don't doubt that amongst certain, shall I say, layers of society, it's rife. I just haven't experienced it yet.
