Do you own a road bike as well?
« on: March 16, 2009, 05:37:23 pm »
Can we mention those things here? If not feel free to smack me 'round the earhole. :)
I've noticed a few posts now that have made a reference to the owners roadie. Thought it would be good to have look at what's out there hiding in the corner of the garage?
This be my old girl.

sweet kwak!! 8) Z1B?? I had ye old' Z650 and my mates had Z1R, 1000A's, 1000J's, GS1000S and throw in a nice Eddy Lawson Replica back in the earlies '80's but they be mere memories now. Sold my last roady about 4 years ago (600 fireblade) but they've always been around me. My brothers were both into streetbikes owning many many bikes from Benelli SEI 750 6 to British marques, waterbottles, GT's to good old 750 F1 honda with the then ducks nuts full fairing and custom naked lady paintwork. My dad too was a mad keen BSA and Ariel square four pilot. Guess you could say bikes are in my blood ;D

never thought i would buy a road bike but that changed when i saw a 76 yamaha rd 250 in a mates work shed which was very original all lights and everything works running i think i did alright for $200 it needs to be done up and has had a accident at one stage but should look good when its done up i prefer this to dads vf1000f that we got rid of recently and someone said my rd is a rarer model because it has a front and rear disc and is called a 76rd250cd insted of normal rd250c i cant ride the rd yet because im not old enough to get my learners yet they are much more dangerous on the road than dirt though thanks Michael. :)

Magnificent MX. If old roadies were my bent, that'd be what I'd have. Very nice!  :)

Very nice Kawasaki, I like the "Jaffa's" in this model which a couple just went thru ebay in excess of 12K, though I still like the !973 Honda 750/4 with the four into four pipes ;)

Vey clean Z9 and well why not have a roady, some times its good to get out for a bit of a blast. In my case I did a bit of road racing as well between motocross as a kid and now as more mature bloke. Me being a Honda Man will always have to aline with a Honda now wouldn't I.

29K on the clock second one I have owned (first when they were new).

What I'd like to know is, can you actually kick-start the bloody things or was the kicker just for looks?

And I'm used to starting something that doesn't even have a de-comp lever! Piece of piss!
There's a few nice 750/4's and Z9's on the Classic and Collector part of eBay at the moment. Hmmm....... :P

I have an XS650 (1977) yamaha twin waiting for some work when my VMX bike sells.
I must take some before shots for the album,it will give me an indication of how much work was/has to be spent on it.
