Anyone know how Rob Tumes went on his KXs?
Quote
he went ok, had a big stack in the woops section i think on sat or sun, didnt see much of him after that, he was top 5 most weekend, but no medals.
Poor old Tumesy....therin lays Robs career in vintage racing. For a couple of decades he's been one of the fastest vintage racers in the land on his well prepped Kawas..at one stage he was one of the only racers to have beaten Ronnie Dinsdale and Andy Caldecott fair and square, but his speed is more often than not let down by monster crashes while either out in front or fighting for the lead. When he has a get off it's invariably a biggy.

Rob's a good bloke too, one of the sports real characters.

i know this threads a little old but can annyone tell me what bikes Andy Caldecott was riding.  (may he rest in peace)

I think the VMX cover shot of Andy shows him on a TM250 Alison though he did indeed have a TM400 as well.

suzuki27 and the rest.
I need to start with the history of the bike a bit. I purchased the TM off one of the original WA McCullock Suzuki Mechanics, A bloke by the name of Shane Thompson. Shane had collected a lot of TM stuff and probably built this bike from a collection of the bits he had. Being a Suzuki man he new what could work with what. The forks as far as I would know would be TM. I brought all of Shane's collection of bits, which included fork sets and they are all pretty similar. So if they look like something else - you guys would know more than me. The forks work pretty good. I run a couple of spacers for pre load and a couple of pound of air. Then I think you just have to hold on - -- don't you? At the end of the day the forks still go up and down the same amount as any other. Just thinking - it would not surprise me if the were of something later - knowing Shane  ::)
Shane unfortunately came amiss on a modern bike at a local enduro and now sports his own set of wheels, unfortunately they are pretty well attached to himself.
Steven

Had the young nephew and his mate in the shed this evening,to pick up an kx front wheel.
Jarred the mate is the son of Shane mentioned above.
he noticed the TM250L out from under the sheet getting ready for this sundays pre75 event. He said "who rides this"
I said "Steven mostly, though Ben placed at Crystal Brook Classic Nats on her.he asked if I'd riden it.i said only around the house.
The way he moved and looked over and around the bike was odd.
I said 'it was your dads'!
I could see the memory or the emotions coming back from when he was about five.He was really chuffed, asking all about the TM.I mentioned to Jarred, next time have a closer look at the photos on our dads wall at home. :P
There's more to our young mxer's than we believe! ;)  8)
Cheers A
