its in between meets ? they should have done it next weekend we have a long weekend, travelling can always be assisted by long weekends ? if its a trully national event you need to cater for everyone to be able to get there and also sync it up with state title rounds, its just too close to everthing else including our final round. 2 weeks later would have been perfect, then no need to worry about getting back in time.

If they do it again next year ask if they will give us a heads up on the chioce of dates, so we can pick one out of say 5 offered ?

I agree totally with Firko this thread is to quiet in comment about a NATIONAL TITLE.And to top it off and I mean no disrespect by this comment the couple of feedbacks that are there comment about the dates not being suitable. I went through all of these reasons when we ran the NATS at COFFS,a club has to set a date that works for it firstly be that availability of track, helpers to run the event, time issues in getting approval to run the event ,M.A. reqirements then try to work around what ever meetings that you know of are on. At the end of the day as I have said before with so many other people this is your NATIONAL someone has been willing to do all of this for you.ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ENTER.

Well, let's hope there is enough interest to make this event go off. From earlier comments on the forum it does sound like there'll be a fair rollup. I am sending off my entry after payday later this week and have already booked accommodation. Should be a top day, especially the racing under lights thing.

I agree about the clash with HEAVEN's Evo Challenge. I don't know if either club talked to the other, and to be honest I'd be a bit baffled if they didn't. But as has been pointed out club's have to grab whatever dates they can - you can't please everyone.

I'd like to do both events and am a bit PO'd that I can't, but that said Wagga is a better option for me. Close by, racing under lights, much easier on the body, and I have a TM125 to race in real vintage racing for the first time ever.

It'd be good to hear from the Wagga club about how things are looking. I emailed them but no reply so far, so I might try again. It was great hearing from the Coffs boys about how the event was shaping up and I reckon that would help on this occasion.

Anyways, not long now. Who's feeling pretty damn keen - I gotta say it again, racing under lights. I haven't done that since 1984! I just hope there's a good rollup, all those great old bikes out there flogging round an oval track. What more could you want?

What a f****ing discrace. I would have thought that most of you would have realised after the crap that Donny Thornton went through to get the Coffs meeting up and running you'd understand the urgency of this. The Wagga club has taken a big gamble to promote the Nationals for us. By not entering this event you are hammering yet another nail into the coffin of vintage racing. Back in the nineties the first generation of vintage racers would have been tripping over themselves in excitement over this event. It now seems that many of the current generation of so called vintage "racers" would still rather talk about it that actually f***ing do it! Whoever named them cyber racers was spot on. A lot of people have put a lot of work and time into putting this event on for you blokes. Dave has told me that his business is suffering because of the amount of time he has had to put into getting it all together. That is what sacrifice is about. I've been schlepping this event arount to all of the magazines and websites as have a number of other good folks who have been doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff to help get this event happening. Two magazines are allocating coverage space.

I guess it's all too hard for you. I've been flogging this message all along. These clubs make SFA money out of this. If they break even, it's a good event. They do it for you, the vintage racers of Australia. They don't do it for ego or for the warm fuzzies. They do it for you. All the promoters ask in return is for you to support the support they've put into vintage dirt track. The easiest part of the whole Wagga Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships is entering the f***ing thing but it seems that even that is too bloody hard. If this event doesn't come off, you can say goodbye to it forever. No club will ever trust us as a sport again.

Am I pissed off? You betcha! Am I disapointed? You betcha again. After twenty years that myself and many, many other good and dedicated people have put into keeping vintage dirt sports alive it seems that it's all for f***all.
I'm going for a drive to calm down.

Gidday Freaky I am from NSW and believe me I cant work em out either!!Regarding Clubs and numbers its really hard to say, we ran the Coffs Nats and out of 350 members only 5 of us ride Vintage so sometimes its the concept that has the value not nessarily the rider numbers.Hey Big guy I know you are pretty burred up at the moment as I can understand so I figure we cant bag the few people who watch this forum and probably will enter but encourage them to talk their mates and get them to enter as it needs all of us to keep all of this going.Dave did also mention he has had a lot of phone calls so hopefully its a sad case of everyone leaving it to the last minute, but that dosnt help the Club trying to do this.

Just tossing around some ideas about  this impending debacle. As any who has ever ridden dirt track knows it is  MAJOR FUN-,for riders and spectators alike. I can't help but think that the date clashes are a big stumbling block. Are the respective club reps willing to talk?.Can MA be approached about a date shift?-and would it make a difference anyway. Can Heaven drop it as a point score round- to help more Heaven members make it:? I don't know, but come on people, for the good of OUR great sport and passtime can we at least try and make this happen.

This event is a National event,

I'm not sure why when the excuses come out most are directed at Heaven.
may be it is a shame that Heaven has a club  day that is  trying to promote an Evo Pre 85  Motor cross event
on the same day as the Vintage Dirt track Nationals that have included an Evo  class to boast numbers,

If you check the Calender other states and even other NSW clubs have events schedualed on that date. ???

If riders feel that the Nationals are Important to them  vote with your entry,

If you think the  Dirt track Nationals are Important and its your thing
Just enter for the Dirt Track National and boast the entries
Cheers
You could even enter the Nationals in Wagga on Saturday then enter the Evo Event on Sunday ;D

Closing date is Friday 28 September. The Wagga track looks good, never ridden on it but checked it out when I was there for the Amcross. Tons of room to camp, but don't know if the club allows that or not. Some info is available on their website:

http://www.wwmcsc.com.au/Flat%20Track.html

I know that the club is worried, but I used to be Comp Secretary for my club which ran mostly DT events. And we NEVER got many entries 10 days out from the closing date. Most of the time we got all our entries in the last week and a few days after closing date, so I wouldn't be panicing yet.

That said, I think the clash with HEAVEN WILL affect entries. The Vintage field is not a huge one, and I know at least two riders who are going to HEAVEN who most likely would have done the DT otherwise. I'm not blaming HEAVEN at all but I've said it before, with so many events and such a small market it has to affect some event's viability. And let's face it DT is not the most popular of forms of racing. It's a shame, but both clubs have to make their move early on and it's not an easy task to make sure your calendar doesn't impact on something else. So, let's accept that the date clash is unfortunate, and move on. I don't want to see any bagging out of either club. They made their play and we have to work with what we have and hope next year works better.

Nonetheless, I think Wagga will be fine. It may not raise a huge field, but I reckon they'll get enough. They just might have to relax the no late entries stance, that's all.

Oh yeah, and my entry is in the mail.
