« on: October 08, 2008, 08:32:56 pm »
This is a good subject, who is the biggest name rider you have passed on a motocross track.
I will start, I once passed Gally  when he was standing on the side of the track watching. That's the closest i have ever got to passing someone famous,
what about you?

I diced with Tony Gunter for a few laps at Mt Kembla at what must have been his first open meeting. I didn't know him from Adam at the time. Don't even know what he was riding. I was on the MX250. He was the talk of the meeting and my racing buddies filled me in when I got back to the pits.

I remember he approached and jumped The Wall better than me but I could close up a few bike lengths on him on the hard packed clay left hander after The Wall. Then there was an off camber section which had a, for me anyway ::), difficult dogleg around a tree. He absolutely murdered me through there - probably pulled 4 bike lengths in 8 bike lengths :o. To this day I don't know how he was that much faster than me through there ::).

Kept with him most of the rest of the lap but he edged away. Probably superior fitness :P. He was probably 17, I was about 24.

In PRACTICE at Speedworld in Phoenix, Az. I passed a # 53 Suzuki rider--Brad something ;D ;D. After realizing this, I actually pulled off-thinking that I must have hit warp speed to do that( he was only putting around). He actually wondered if I was okay there on the side of the track.....Brad Lackey-a great bloke..won that day too.
Life is suddenly very Monaro

I once passed Stephen Gall riding an MT-1 in 1972 at the Kingsgrove Brickpits. Shame it was a race to see who could ride the slowest ::)

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
