I watched the Geelong race on channel 10 yesterday arvo. The pro lites race was up to about the 16th lap and getting interesting when the pratts went to an add break, a station promo and when they restarted the show we had the first 5 mins of the show repeated. Finally someone realised what was going on and I got the hear the last 20 seconds of the pro lites post race commentary before the first of the 6 lap x 3 Pro open finals.

Apart from the f*%kup in the pro lites broadcast, not a bad show. I may be a bit old fashion but I did prefer the 20 lap race, seemed a bit more time to recover from a mistake or bad start. maybe a bit more down to riders and ability rather than luck.

After rereading some of the earlier posts I think the pro lites had more appeal as it wasn't a race for second place. Reed is incredibly fast but it looked like he was in cruise mode most of the time. He got mediocre starts in his heats but still led by about lap 2-3 of 6. he turned up the pace to get to the lead then stayed just in front. Hopefully the locals will take this as an example rather than a put down.

yeah but what a track!  geelong, that is.  sensational for spectators (and the riders no doubt).  whoever designed did bloody good.  and the aussie riders, while obviously slower than chad, did carry a heck of a lot of speed. i was impressed!

Have read that the injury list is getting longer. :o
I'm thinking Chad may have to bring some heavier competition into the show.
Be interesting to see what the big towns on the east coast bring on the sx dates. ;D
Best is in the West !!

If your there, the sights the sounds and the scents Yes!!! but this SX like the majority of motor racing on TV was boring and mediocre to watch, poor quality production values, noisy uneducated uninspiring commentators only filling in the gaps between shit loads of unrelated adds.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I was going to the Parramatta round but thankfully I'm finally driving up to Qld to pick up my US imports. I've unloaded my tickets onto my mates unsuspecting sons. I didn't bother with the TV coverage of the Geelong round. If it's repeated during the week I may have a squiz but for the moment, I've lost all interest.

I was there and the atmoshphere, sights, sounds & racing was excellent. The TV coverage was pretty good too. I think the next few rounds can only get better with the different formats and the fact they are gong into the night as well. Chad is the ultimate showman: bad starts and coming through the pack to win, going last in the hot lap run and winning by just 1 second. He is playing with the locals and making for decent veiwing.
Cheers,
K

Well Super X delivered tonight at Townsville ;) may have taken a bit of good old Queensland rain but the racing was fantastic, to see Chad finally beaten livened it up a bit as well but the skill on show was first class in those conditions!!

The man on man formula will be back for sure ;)

Roll on Brisbane and a big crowd for the final ;D

Who up this way is going??

Yeah, that wasn't bad at all was it? I thought that man on man format would be dull as but in fact it was pretty damn good. Different, for sure. Wouldn't like an entire series like that, but as a one-off it's good. McGrath rode well too I thought. The Aussie boys have really improved I think, there were some great rides in the sloppy conditions.

Brad will this be forming part of the new riding gear in the golden boy collect 09? :D :D

Graeme, I was impressed by Mcgrath to ride in those conditions like that and I think he knocked himself around when he missed that triple in his quarter final ride. Hey you would not like to piss Chad off would you? he was out for blood in that bronze ride off ??? ???

I went down to Townsville and it was great - despite my initial scepticism the Man on Man format was really good.  Made for some close racing.  The 2 storms cooled everyone down and made the racing much more interesting.  If it didn't rain it was shaping up to be another Chad benefit.  The crowd actually got very excited when Chad was beaten.  I think they were just happy to see a competition.

I would go again no worries.   Hopefully the attendance was enough for them to come back up North.  We don't get many events of this calibre up this way.

Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

"My inability to use emoticins in the right context is really getting me down :)
The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

Just went to the signing / meet at Springwood Suzuki. Im not really the type to do that sort of thing but i did and was disappointed . Chad was a robot and clearly didn't want to be there. Chad Reed... get stuffed. I feel better now. I am going to the superx this time as i have tickets but won't bother next time. I was in the first 50 or so, so he had only just got there.

I've always thought Chad is a Hollywooder and more interested in the fame and ridiculous money he makes, that's why i'd never bother going to one of those things. I lost interest in him when he decided to quit doing outdoor motocross and ride Supercross only. I'm going to the SuperX this weekend in the hope someone else takes a win again.. gets boring watching Reed run away with every race. I'd love to see Reardon get up and win one.
