I have made a long and deliberate decision to sell and move to Acres for this very reason.

I think the Zero's are still around 20-22K ? I expect they will come down?

I hope I survive and make it to the rest of my life. I am hanging to have a watered track for DC bikes, karts  and buggies  :) 5 and 3 year old grandsons and #3 in the oven ;D

When your talking E-bike are you thinking electric assist push bike or full electric motorbike?
I thought of making a 125 size electric bike a few years back and was going to use one of these model aircraft motors as a power source. They claim about 11 hp and equivalent to a 100cc 2 stroke.

Max RPM would be around 8000 with a 12 cell lipo battery pack so would need gear reduction and a good cooling fan but with a near flat torque curve it would go pretty hard.

Pushbike . Easy to visit friends and have an ale or two without loosing all the licenses. You can also take them in the train to town . I thought that would be handy . There are 250, 500, 750 and 1000 Watt versions . There are BMX versions , I thought that could be fun .
VMX shocks , We don't just sell them - I design and produce them individually for you since 1989.

The significant difference with electrical power in a rotating machine is that maximum torque is at zero RPM as long as the current can be supplied (hence the name traction drive). This is the complete opposite of IC engines.

The OHMs law triangle only holds true for basic 'pure' DC circuits. AC is a completely different kettle of fish as power factor (lead or lag) comes into play while frequency and wave shape adds another major game changer.

Many modern drive systems use drives at higher voltages such as the ZERO bikes that use up to 150V battery packs while Tesla cars use 375V packs. The higher voltage allows a much higher charge density. The most advanced motors are an AC/DC compound motor. The stator is AC so the frequency and speed can be infinitely controlled while the rotor is DC to give maximum torque and braking controllability (is that a word).

The electronics will make your eyes water. DC-AC inverters, frequency drives, regenerative braking, torque mapping. A well set up electric drive could easily ripe a frame to pieces due to the massive torque that could be generated.

AH is a basic measure of battery capacity which needs to be considered along with maximum deliverable current, voltage and cell design. You can have a 5.0AH battery at 12 Volts but its maximum deliverable current may be 5amps while another may be a 5.0AH 12V battery with maximum deliverable current of 20Amps.

Wow compound electric motors is that what the Tesla motors are?

HCCI is something we will hear more and more

I bought my kids an Oset trials bike a few years ago. It was great in the park next door. Super quiet, and had a London battery life. But, no seat, so kids sat on mudguard. If they made a few trail versions as well as their trials bikes, they would be on a winner.

When they were  born, my daughter said no motorbikes dad,,, look at how many times you've, been banged up  ;D ::) ;D

but boys will be boys
Thing is the kids love going to the park now on their pushhies,,, hehe he,,
So the next logical step is Poppy Mick lobs up one xmas with new pushies, fitted with e motors,, God I hope she doesn't read this ;D ;D ;D

You can buy E-bike wheel kits for either front or rear wheels and convert your own.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/112347138321?chn=ps&dispItem=1
My son used something similar and built an E-trike with a 26" front wheel and 10" rears. It would do 45kph on the flat. His wheel was rated at 1000w but was putting out nearly double with good lipo batteries.
Be careful having a few drinks and riding a pushy, you can still get done and loose your car licence.

i was at the isle of man this year, read the program....... E bikes. Couldn't believe the complete lack of interest, lack of any thing that remotely resembled  atmosphere. They were only good for 1 lap. Nobody was rushing to the pits to check em out.

Pretty sure some one said this new internet thing will never catch on either Geoff  ;D

Anyhow, this is what I'm talking about, or a trials one. Not a roadie,,,,,,,, Yet ::) ;D

Yes and I think you can even do your licence if your done riding a horse pissed

And really, if there's one thing we should have learnt by now is alcohol and 2 wheels shouldn't be mixed

One of my clients has an e bike, hand made in the Shepparton , Victoria region. He picked the mountain bike he thought would be best for his application & they fitted the electrics. I had a go on it & it is pretty damn good. Instant traction & very, very fast (upwards of 60kph in secconds). It has two power curves & the owner told me to roll the "throttle" rather than snap it when in the high curve. I tried both ways & the bike jumped straight out from under me & sat me on my arse when I snapped it. My client heads out into the bush (right behind a housing estate) & rides without making noise. He also has a solar charging mat that fits in his camelback which he uses if the charge is getting low (he has around 2 hours at full power). 30-45 minutes of relaxing in nature while he tops up the charge & he's away again. It's not my thing (at the moment) but is definitely part of the future.

Someone mentioned above e-speedway bikes, now that would be interesting to see a top rider line up against the current 500cc 4T bikes in SGP. I wonder if they would be any quicker? Have the riders of today reached the limit as to just how fast you can go sideways  :o

Couple of spare batteries always charging in the pits, quick change when needed & away they go. Could see speedway come back to inner suburbs showgrounds tracks etc., maybe even long track at metro horse racing tracks...............
