Been with PB since 2005 but it has always been a real shit of a site. Deleted the account yesterday and like others will now use my Flickr or OneDrive (Outlook) when needed

Yep, I've got the same issue.

7 odd years of posting pics on various forums (EBT, OzVMX, AMTRA, DirtriderZ etc) and they've all gone.  No warning, no explanation, just an email to say 'pay-up'  So all those years of 'work' gone to poo as my pics are held to ransom.

I've just started to use IMGUR.  Same basic concept as PB, but I've read their Ts & Cs and no sign of any restrictions to 3rd party hosting.  But as mentioned earlier, it's too hard (or even conceivable) to go back and re-link all my pics.  I doid it for one resto thread and it still took me nearly 2 hours!

So limited pics from me too.  I'll use Facebook from now (untill the same sh!t happens with that!)

As I understand it, PhotoBucket is making these changes to all users.

Flickr is a free hosting alternative, and is mentioned in one of the articles posted by Broad-Arrow. I just uploaded and posted this pic now.



You might have to have a Yahoo email account to use it, but that shouldn't present too much of an issue. I'm going to check out Imgur too.

Im not computer savvy, but apparantly my 2 sons are, they tell me that there will definately be another way to post photos on the forum. I dont know how to do it but someone will work it out.  If dennis doesnt post all them cool photos, Ill have to talk to me missus at night........

The pic was taken at a club fun-day a couple of weeks ago. The first corner was only a short dash from the start, and there were a few guys willing to risk the unknown in the ferns to try and get an advantage. Just fun, not actual racing, but man some of those guys were fast!

Does anyone simply transfer direct from phone to photo host, and if so which host ?
Neither imgur nor flickr seem to work with my nokia/microsoft phone.

I've deleted my Photobucket account.
I'm going to look into alternatives.

I'm leaning towards something I have control over. The hours I've wasted putting pictures on many, many posts on numerous forums is very disappointing. Something I hope to never suffer again.

The only way I could get all my posts whole again would be to pay the PB ransom. It would be impossible to find every post and re-link every pic to another hosting site.

The chances of any similar sites changing their conditions/cost, or even just shutting down are high IMHO.

while its nice to have that legacy of past info (and a real shame its been torpedoed) I think the best move is to a new picky hosting site and move on. your next story is what most people are happy to see. can always rebuild a thread if you think its important. the unfortunate fact is some of the pics here have told superb stories. on we go, middle finger to mr zikavirus

Unfortunately it has happened before, can't remember the name but quite a few members lost their photos when the company they used folded.
I will update my photos on a need to basis, mostly due to the time involved.

The VERi website also has room for photos if any VERi club members need them hosted, you won't have the same privacy as the other hosting sites and you will have to email them to us so we can upload them for you.
Once uploaded simply right click on the enlarged image and choose 'copy image location'
then click on the photo icon here and paste the magic text here (or whatever web site your desire)

Interesting that PB hasn't deleted my photos yet, wondering if its because I don't have an 'au' on the end of my email and they are targeting the outside world first?
