1985 honda cr250 rear shock.
« on: November 07, 2016, 07:45:46 pm »
Im after the above after discovering my shock isnt the original it has a red spring (should be blue) and is about 30 mm shorter.now i cant look at my lowrider cr without feeling gyped.maybe it was set up for dirt track.i need a good shock ready to be bolted in and raced.or a swap with a dirt tracker with a high arse end.

Is 89 CR 250 any good for you ?
Bad attitudes are like flat tyres.
You can't go anywhere till you change them.

Sounds like you have an 84 RE shock, they are shorter but otherwise the same, there is a 125RF 85 shock on face book, think they are the right length but thinking 250 KYB & 125 Showa, both are OK though ;)

Have the forks been lowered too? If so then it may have been lowered for dirt track and if so then you should just need someone to remove the spacer inside the shock to make it normal length again.
A photo of the shock may help, the Honda trainspotters may be able to tell you what shock you have.

The forks are lowered maybe 10mm thru the top of the triple clamps thats why i was thinking maybe a dirt tracker.the funny thing is it handles quite well around the mx track.its just now i know its lowered i cant look at it.lol.

Yes 125 shocks were smaller body, the pro's used 250 shocks .  85  500 or 86 250/500  shocks are compatible

Weren't the 125 shocks KYB and the 250/500's Showa's?  From what I remember the KYB shock worked better?
