Differences 78 /79 CR 250
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:59:50 am »
Probably been asked a 100 times before  ::)

What are the major differences between a 78 CR 250 and a 79 CR 250 ?

If a club ran a Pre 79 class would the 79 model be considered a flow on ?

This is a hypothetical question so i dont need under MA rule 1235556667  ::)

thanks

The lower fork legs have a different axle clamp, sidecover stickers & slightly different front sprocket cover are the visual differences :)

mainly cosmetics as SMED has said - chain rollers also different - nylon as opposed to steel - not much at all really Bill - would definitely qualify as a flow on.

From memory, the '79 had an aluminium ring/spacer on the airbox around the airfilter to carb boot. I had a look on the parts book, but can't see that showing up on it though. I know that my 79 had the aluminium ring on it's airbox.
The older I get, the faster I was. Current Bikes-78KX125,78KX250,79KX125,79KX250,83CR125

If you can get hold of a parts book it identifies the differences for the 1978, 79 and 80.  The Honda-Elsinore website has a download I think that you ay be able to get.

Different in the barrels, 79 smoother power than 78... neither have great bottom end power but fun bike to ride.....
