The little Wife's SR250 rebuild is coming along slowly.

Just to recap here is how it looked a month ago.

And how it looks currently
85' Husky TE510, 83' XR250R, 76' DT400C, 81' XL500S, 85' XL250R, 80' XT250, 82' XT200.
Hmmm, What should I buy next?
In case you were wondering it was an 85' CR250R. Then a 76' DT250 and a 01' XR250 and it didn't stop there

On the weekend the young bloke said he wanted to go and have a look at some of the flooding around town so I took him out for a spin on the old XL500.

This is Noreuil Park reserve in town

And remember the picture I posted a page back of the XJ below the weir wall? Well that area is now under water as there are currently 7 flood gates open so here is a pic of it from the other side of the river.

Yep. Water everywhere at the moment and it poured rain again last night.

Well I have been hard at work on the little SR and it is finally back together but unfortunately it isn't running yet as the starter clutch is playing up. Still have a few other little bits and pieces to finish off but it is basically finished. Here are some before and after pics to show what it went through to get to this point. The big challenge in order to keep costs down has been restoring basically all the original parts to a nice looking condition rather than buying any new parts. However the front rim was beyond repair so I bought a second hand wheel which had a good rim but the hub and spokes were in worse nick.

old wheel

New Secondhand wheel

Finished product

Should have polished this while I had the engine out but never got around to it

So ended up doing it in place and it came up pretty good.

The original muffler was in a pretty sad state

But with some elbow grease and paint it came up pretty good

And The end result

Now once I repair the starter I just hope it goes as well as it looks.

OK, no worries will get onto them as soon as I finish the IT250, IT400, XT250, XT600 and XT225 that are still sitting here. Oh and then I almost forgot there is the TT250, DT200,DT400 and my Uncles Honda scooter. By the time I get them done I will probably need to do some more work to the XR600, XL500, XR250, CR250 as well as the Husky. So it could be a little while off yet before I get to yours.  ;D

Took Kel away for our 19th wedding anniversary on the old XJ last weekend and had a great time. Stayed Friday night at a fantastic little B&B in Lankeys Ck out of Jingellic then went up through Tumba and the Elliot way around to Tumut for Saturday night.

Hillviewoak B&B. Great little place at a very good price.

The pondage at Talbingo

In Tumut we stayed at the Tumut log cabins which were a stones throw from the main street yet situated in very peaceful surroundings

Also this weekend i managed to get away riding on the DRz with a couple of other blokes and have finally been into the Wonnangatta which is something I had planned to do 13 years ago when I had my XR600. Didn't get a lot of pics but will post some when I get a chance.

It is a very interesting place with some quite challenging tracks especially due to the recent heavy rains. On this ride I only scratched the surface so hopefully at some point in the future I will get a chance to go back and look around some more.

A beautiful area of Aus. I lived in Wodonga for 17 years and loved every minute. I would still be there but for "Uncle's" sending all their IT off shore. I still have a 'van at Mitta, the start of arguably the best set of twisties in Australia.
Lovin' your work!
Phill.

Yep, Mitta is a great little spot with access to to some fantastic riding on both bitumen and in the bush.

The SR500 rally is on again this weekend in Bethanga and the plan was to take the little SR250 along but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get it registered so will be riding the old XL instead and this year will be camping the night so hopefully should have some good bike pics to post up when I get home.

Here's the XL packed and ready.
