Great find Mick and an absolute bargain considering the overall condition and knowing the provenance of the bike.
Much better than any dishwasher could ever be!
The rear shocks were never any good even from new so splurge out some money on a new set for the old jigger. You will be glad you did. Change the fork oil too mate....no doubt its probably still got the original gunk in there.

Hi Mark, thanks :)

I am so sick of doing dishes >:( the plan was two washers at waist height, one for clean and ready, the other for dirty to be done. Lozza reckons the Aldi $399 dishwashers on sale wednesday work great. Ah well, a dish pig for a while longer  :-[

Yeah I have a set of konis here somewhere I bought from Frank Z.
I think there are 400 long, and I recall he said they come off some sort of Zuk?
That might cut me a little time to save and look around for options, if I can find them.

being a plastic tank check it for signs of being brittle

Your theory checks out Pokey, It is rock hard. Been sitting empty since 1992. Dam shame the colour is great, same as underneath the tank.
It looks really good nick to look at but it is rock hard. Can push heavily on the side of it and it doesn't give at all.

I had a look at the ones in England and lots of the 1980 model PE's seem to use the earlier alloy ones,

So I just found and bought an OK one from the states.

I imagine it will be a fair bit lighter as well, Maybe 2KGs?

Reason UK versions have alloy tanks is plastic tanks weren't road legal at the time

I didn't realise that Tony, I used to think it was only for competition, cheers.

You will need to chop the front of the seat and make it shorter and make up some brackets for the front tank mount. Details/pics on yahoo forum as there was an owner in Canada who did this a while back.

Bummer, ah well, I'll just have to jump through the hoop. There is no way I am gunna sit around all weekend with a split crashed tank whilst evryone is still ridding and I want to save and shelf all the good gear anyhow.
Thanks for the tip and link Leith, appreciated :) I will go look see what they do.

Ok, now I need a quality seat cover, can anyone help steer me to one?
There are these
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Suzuki-Pe250-1980-81-seat-cover-new-/181793916964?hash=item2a53c30824

But a friend bought one from that supplier for a CR500 and wasn't impressed with it. I didn't see it though.

I bought a couple of covers from this mob years back, I regretted it ::) ::)

I have had a few from Pit Relplica (not PE covers though) and they seem ok and are some of the better repros out there. Or you could pay $300+ and get a pro bike seat place like Eldorado http://125.214.73.98/~restorem/

The one on 'DG performance australia' is Maxwells and come from DC plastics. I know of one guy that had a lot of trouble fitting a DC plastics PE seat cover. Seems like no matter which repro you use theres good and bad experiences. I have had those ones from SME Bike in NZ too but the logo was almost green. They printed yellow straight onto black and not print the logo in white first.

OK, thanks again, cheap as anyway, I will buy one now.

I have a Maico seat from SA Eldorado. Absolutely fantastic, excellent craftsmanship.

In the UK they wouldn't allow plastic tanks for road use. Try the hot air gun on the tank.Sometimes softens up the plastic.

I have a Pit Replica cover on my PE250, and it's good.

I also have one on a TS250 and that's OK too.

I bought one last night after Leith's post, been hoping I did the right thing. Reasurred now, thanks Short Stuff :)

Sounds like they were reluctant to accept it hey ;D ;D (plastic)  ;D ;D :D

Alloy tank posted, hope to have it up and running before I damage this one. This plastic tank is the best one I have ever seen. I will try to save the rare stuff, particularly since this bike will be used, Heaps and heaps I hope :)
