XL 350 center port gearbox

Hi All
I have a older 350  side port engine with a 420 kit  hi comp  , slips out in 5th gear ,was told the  center port engine had a better/upgrade gearbox .
Or some advice knowledge  on the known problem, bevel cut gear  dogs?  etc .

Back cut the problem dogs on 5th and 3rd gears. Also, speed up the clutch gears. Make sure you run a cush drive rear hub.
