Yep was a brilliant weekend however not the finish anyone could have wanted.  I believe the rider in question was Steve Anderson riding the GSXR750 number 35 I think.  We left an hour or so ago and the "authorities" including numerous QPS vehicles were still at the crash scene.

RIP :(

Yes, after such a great start to bike racing at Lakeside the death of the rider has put the worst type of damper on the whole meeting. My condolences to the riders family and friends. Lisa scored a ride in the Gogomobile, the Shannons people are absolutely fantastic. Our VMX display was flat out all day, lets hope we get some new converts out of it. The crowd today was way bigger than yesterday, it was huge. There's a couple of photo's of the race HRD Vincent, one of Greg Hansfords KR's, a Coleman Suzuki [NZ] TR500, a Std Vincent Black Shadow. Will put some more photo's up later.  On a brighter note, there's a huge Broadford Bonanza type event going to happen next year at Qld Raceway, I will keep you informed as I get more info and we work out more details. Next year is going to be as busy as this year.

yep,rip Steve, not good, sorry guys, musta walked past the shannon bus a dozen times with my eyes shut, was basically pitted below it,just up from popeye for the 4 days, interesting storm, shit it flooded the pits bigtime, helmets, leathers, gloves floating around,(along with power cords/generators still running   :o)big surprise for guys returning next day after leaving early before the storm, track was good, new bus stop not a big hit with anyone,i'd forgotten how fast it was, ended up running with Phillip island gearing sunday!,good crowds both days, even the helio doing joy flights was old school (pre 75??), :P

Talked to Craig today, he has a broken collar bone as well as 2 broken ribs and a broken scapular anybody with any footage of the accident is asked to get in touch the relevant authorities, Craig is pretty sure he remembers what happened but they want to make sure, still left an empty feeling in the gut after such a great weekend...

Meet some interesting people on the weekend at the VMX display, one guy from Auckland was admiring the YZ250A and told me when he was a kid they had one [early 90's] and when he bought a "modern" bike [YZ250G] put the motor out of the YZ250A in a gokart.....and ended up throwing the rest of the bike in the rubbish tip. He cant remember what happened to the gokart. Makes you shudder where a lot of bikes have ended up.
