Don't know if anyone cares, but I had a look at my clutch today.
About half the plates are fine. The other half have had the friction material ripped from them - the previous toasted clutches I've seen have simply burned the friction material - they wore pretty much evenly and the gearbox oil turned into a black paste. Mine had big black chunks of clutch material through the oil.

The smell is weird - its got that sort of pleasant smell of a bonfire, but it also smells like someone has put a plastic bag on the bonfire... Not the usual burnt clutch smell.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

do you think it was a case of a dud batch of plates or the toture they went through ???

sounds like the bonding material has let go, fried clutches usually have smooth faces on the plates..bummer, check for warranty :D ;D ;)
