Mostly prohibited and withdrawn from general public sale. Industrial use in controlled areas. Ultra fine lead particles easily adsorbed via the skin easier via cuts and abrasions , can also be ingested orally. Lead toxins gets in ya and like mercury stays in ya . Use of modern graphite based is just as good lubrication or better.

Think to yourself my friend ,Why were leaded petrol and lead based paints removed from sale?

Thanks, I have runs test with (MoS2) Molybdenum disulfide grease, and seems okay. Gears are quiet and engage easily.

I pulled the rear seats permanently out of my wagon recently.
I could then hear the diff.
noise is wear.
I changed the diff oil before I went to Victoria and put a wee bit of Molybdenum disulphide in,,,,,
it is now as quiet as a lamb on a hamburger. Good shit.

ive got some noise in my diff as well and I was going to try moreys in it as its very thick but ill try the m/disulphide in it so where do you buy it/is it a grease or just a oil?

I had a customer copmplaining about a whine in the diff,

I told him it was a matter of apinion.

On lubricants, lead is a health problem, plus it settles out, graphite works well but it should not be used on ball or roller bearings, as it rolls into lumps under the roller or ball and significantly shortens bearing life. Molybden di sulphide is far superior for minimum friction and long life. The old Bardahl product is excellent for protection of friction but is corrosive on steel in the long term and highly destructive on plain bearings.

I put Pro-Ma additives in my 40 series landcruiser gearbox/transfer/diffs from back in 1983 and their still going strong without a spanner put on em
