Yamaha DS6

Need some help, does anybody know how to remove this ignition system, I have taken two screws out and the centre bolt, what else do I need to do.  the engine is a yamaha DS6 twin.

Taken the screws at 4 and 10 o'clock out?

haven't worked on one since they were new, but, sounds like you've undone the two stator screws plus the bolt so did the points cam come off? [out], if not, then maybe a light tap to free it up. Once cam is removed then the stator [held by the two long screws] should come away with minimal effort. Stator's probably located by a peg or pin just to get it in the right place for the screws to locate. [think that's right]. By the way, the armature will still be stuck on it's taper to the crank--]tryin ta think back] probably a longish bolt with an equally long unthreaded piece slightly smaller than the thread sticking off end of the bolt which goes right down to the end of the hole--something like that lol.

forgot--armature carbon brushes will need to be pulled back & let the brush springs sit against their sides to hold them there. That's if it's a brush type [whadaya call it] dc system instead of an ordinary alternator [no brushes], like my LS2 100 twin.

Is the sprocket nut welded on  ?

not sure if this link will work but shows the plate that the centre bolt goes through coming off just as 'the plate' minus the points cam and looks like the cam is part of the armature.

now i'm confused [make that old n confused] looks like YDS2/3? no worries, like to hear how she goes when finished. Think DS6 had clutch on the gearbox mainshaft not the crank plus sort of squarish cylinder finning, sort of a TZ or TR roadracer for-runner--road version [someone will correct me]. Thought they were great bikes [& great times] Watching MOTO GP live on 'free view' tv, woohoo.

Dave is there a thread inside the shaft , don't Quote me but I seem to remember that there was a bolt that went in but was too big to fit into the crank but as you wound it in it pushed the flywheel off (like a flywheel pusher . Iain . ps the same princible  was used on the DT125 elec start too
