DG Vs Pro Form pipes
« on: May 12, 2014, 08:40:52 pm »
Gday all,

Had a chat to Les today at VMX Unlimited and he advised that he would no longer sell pro form pipes due to ongoing supply problems.

I have the Pro form system on all my bikes as they are always recommended.

So with my RM400N and RM250Z needed new pipes is the DG system as good???

Or any other alternatives??

Thanks

Tim

Having had both pipes before the Proform wins hands down for me.  I believe the old DG pipes were okay going by feedback I've had from guys back in the day but they must have changed as the new ones aren't as good in my humble opinion.

It's a real shame les is giving up on them. Have you tried AMS racing in the USA? Les actually put me onto them for the last PFR pipe I got as I was waiting 6 months from him and still nothing.

Didn't know the DG ones had fitment issues Ted?  However I can admit that the first Proform I purchased new did not fit my YZ250D without the cyl head fins at the rear of the head being shaved 8ish mm ... the pipe was really fat through that section and there was absolutely no freaking way was it going on.  I even called Les and confirmed he had send me a D model pipe and not an E or F.

Anyway my PFR YZ400 pipe on the other hand, just about fell on :) so a bit inconsistent there for some reason.

Might pay to see if retro rocket makes any for your particular bike, as good or better than pro form, and much better business to deal with.

Cheers

Email from DC plastics,,,,same problem

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately, I am closing out all of our Pro Form items. Some things take 2 weeks to get and others take 6 months. Due to this, we can no longer carry them.

Thanks,

Tom Claerhout

I fitted a PFR pipe onto my YZ125G, went on like a glove, NP's.

Recently put a DG onto my 82 CR250 & not a good experience.  After several hours of juggling, twisting & doing my head in, had to fit the exhaust manifold into the pipe before going onto the bike & then really struggled to squeeze it on. Even then, the pipe is now hard up against the frame & probably need to do something about that  :-\

Waited over three months for a jemco pipe from Ozzy distributor. Nuh, didn't happen. Forget them.

Got GMC to make me one for my RM 125 B. Turned up real quick and works a treat. ;D ;D ;D
