What's the general opinion keep it or remove it ?

I have kept mine Jay, and try not to think about if it stops working. I like to see the oil level dropping in the tank when I ride

It's a personal thing  Jay ..... keep it and keep topping up  your auto lube tank  or split the cases and drill a oil feed hole to LHS bearing - remove slinger plate and install a shim in it's place
Note .... It is unwise to disconnect auto lube without the mods mentioned above

I have kept the auto lube on my TM's and never had any problems. If you decide to get rid of the auto lube let me know as I will buy the oil tank, pump,and oil lines off of you.

It's got a home made tank at the moment which needs replacing with something..
I'm rebuild the motor soon but can't decide whether to keep it or not....

It may not give the ultimate in fuel oil ratios but it is very convenient and reliable.

As far as lubrication for the bottom end goes, I think it's a good system as it positively feeds oil to the LHS main bearing then through the big end pin to the beg end bearing

semiclear road bike rear master cylinder reservoirs will do the job not unless your riding for hours at a time or use what im using on my 185 which is a length of 1 inch clear plastic hose with a welsh plug/copper feed pipe and a test tube stopper on the fill end along with a fine copper pipe for a breather [I just used what I had down the shed].

My TM400 turns 40 this year and still has all the original lube components that works fine.

Don't mess with a good system

will a TS185er oil tank fit? give dimensions, there are a plethera of tanks out there, heaven forbit 1 might fit off a yammie AG bike

Pop down to the local recycle centre and check out all the old petrol whipper snippers they have for sale. Lots of nice compact fuel tanks on those things. some even have a nice moulded spigot to attach the oil line and moulded bolt holes.

yep,  found an oil res from a chinese chainsaw bar oiler that I adapted to fit my TS125mx. Fits nicely and the perfect size (about 250ml)
