Any good tips out there on how to remove stubborn studs out of the cases/cylinder joint?

use a proper stud removing tool that joins to a half inch drive ratchet  its the only way to do it properly . Iain

also pre lube with a releasing agent of choice ;) ie yeild, penetrene, super releasing agent Reducteur H-72

hope this helps if your going to take out studs do it properly as vice grips or multi grips will slip and f up your job . $25 odd bucks . Iain

They are OK but I prefer this type, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STAHLWILLE-12617-3-roller-6mm-Stud-Remover-German-Made-New-/301121388934    You can only use them on the one size though ;) unlike Ians one,you can also get them in kits with 3 or 4 different sizes :)

The one Smed showed is the one I use. It paid for itself the first time I had to remove a stubborn square barrel Maico stud (Anyone who's ever owned a squarie Maico will know what I mean ;D)

Bought a Stahlwille 6 -8 and 10 mm stud remover set from one tool stalls "specials  aka  chuck out bin" at last years Elmore Field days to replace my old dunger unit. Cost $12... ya scounge around and sometimes it pays :)

I was just showing the type of tool,not that one though the shipping price is all f**ked up,any good tool shop should have em or can get em ;)
