Joyce pulled a swifty to get the top job ahead of several long term and expected "shoe ins" when the old guy retired.

he then got rid of the competition by sacking them..

big mistake, one guy went to virgin and has stuffed Joyces plan entirely... what goes around comes around

5 pages of posts about politics on a VMX forum is a disgrace too.  ;D. There is enough of that in the newspapers.  Mike shame on you for stirring the possum.  :P

I when down to Sydney this weekend just gone, by Virgin.  There is no doubt in my mind that Virgin are trying hard to push Qantas out (send then under).  They are letting passengers carry on more than one bag (and oversize bags) and they now provide free snacks.

Qantas is being pushed out.

What do you think will occur if Qantas leave the domestic market?

The first thing will be airfares will skyrocket.

Maybe Governments shouldn't bail companies out, but they should also look at what the long term consequences are.

joyce was "skinning" quantas to bash the unions and reduce the impact of old workplace practises, fat salaries, push jobs away and market Jetstar hard (union free to a degree and better profit).

virgin has skittled his plan with strong competition and brought it to a serious financial situation :o instead of facing the music as failed directors, they have gone bleating to the aussie public for a handout to "keep us (in fat salaries ) alive" as an aussie icon!

it needs to be shot and rebirthed by others is my view.
