I am well aware of no history no dollars. That's why it and all my bikes will stay with me for my one year old grandson to have in time.

I paid $3,000 for the RM 125. I tipped another 3K into it to make it into what it is now. A very serious, reliable little race bike. Will I get my money back. NO.

I swapped my very low hour 2008 KTM 530 for a mint 1983 KX 500. Probably tore up a few dollars there and then but in time I know which one is rare and collectible.

I am restoring an IT 200 at the moment. Paid $2,500 for it. Will spend double that again on it. Will I get my money back. Definitely not. Some may say expensive, crazy, waste of money, could of done it cheaper themselves.

This " I do it all myself " just doesn't work for me financially or time wise. While I earn double what my guy charges me I will let a professional do what he does best and I'll go to work and do what I do best. This is how I offset the enormous ( to some ) expenditure on my bikes.

There are still people around that appreciate things done properly, as this Honda will reveal. My point was that it ain't that exotic.

Its not an exotic bike just a very well built open class twinshock racer . Dentons bikes always sell , I suppose it comes down to a quids a quid wherever you are in the world and 10 thousand pounds in the Uk is like 10 thousand dollars here .

Look at the money those blinged up other 1981 red Fluckers that come out of Germany fetch  ::) Never ever won anything of any note  ::) Geoff Mayes did win the British open title on one in 1980 , but apparently the 1980 model is worth fork all  :-\

All they did in the day was made a shit rider an average rider and an average rider a better than average rider due to their handling , Yet they fetch stupid money  ::) Vintage MX was the best thing that ever happened to them .

As for what is legal for EVO I usually ask the Father of the EVO class Rick Doughty.  Although the Yanks do allow modern flat slide carbies.

Anyway if you want to know what is legal read the MOMS or for this year open the website www.moms.org.au

As for forks, it has become common practice that modern shocks with adjustable compression and rebound are acceptable, so the same with forks is also acceptable.  But no one has tested it with a protest.

Yes it's fantastic isn't it Bill there are more Maico Mega 2 490s in Australia now than there was in 1981.

You're just jealous that you haven't got one.

Sadly Bills right, Maicos never won a world championship but neither did CCM, Rickman Metisse, Cheney, Bultaco, Montesa, OSSA and a shitload of other brands. When you look at the list it seems that not winning a Championship doesn't necessarily  take away the bikes collectability or ability to win races (or its cool factor). A good bike is a good bike whether it's earned a room full of championship plaques or not.

What about Derek Rickmans 66 European Championship win.  Doesnt that count?  The class later has World Champsionship status.
