Hello all  :)
I'm from Germany and live near Duesseldorf/Cologne.
My favorite bikes are the pre 1975 bikes from Maico, Husqvarna, Jawa, CZ etc. and I like the older 4 strokes aswell!
For myself I rebuild and ride Maicos of the 50's to 70’s (GS, MX and oldtimer/street bikes).
My first dirtbike was a Maico M250B (military version of the Blizzard), which I found in the neighbourhood. That was 1985 and it was also my first rebuilt.


I rode this 22 years old bike for 3 years and then I interchanged it for an 1967 Maico GS250.



That was the point the Maico-Virus catches me and several typs of Maico and other brands followed.

I also have 2 Husqvarna projekt bikes, 1x CR400 8-Speed of 1969 and 1x CR360 of 1968 and I love them !  ;D


So I hope I'll have some nice conversation and discussions about vintage dirtbikes here   :D !!

Willkommen Marcus. There are a few old Maico members here, I've got two 1970 350 square barrel, one I've had since new, a 1964 oval barrel 360 that will be fitted to a Metisse frame and a rare 250 Motoball Special/KR 250.

Cool collection of bikes you have there Fritz, even cooler that you ride them on the road. VMX Magazine has had some cool Maico's and other versions in the last 2 editions, Krammer's etc.....if you haven't seen it you can look it up online. 8)

Hey Marcus, you wouldn't have a spare tank like the one in the bottom photo sitting on the bare frame that you'd be willing to sell? I need one for my KR which currently has a Ducati Bronco tank fitted. Also, what exactly is a WaBeHa.....is it an aftermarket frame made by Fritz Betzelbacher? I've heard of them but never seen one. Welcome Marcus, great first post, you have made a nice addition to this forum already  ;) Very nice collection.

I am a Maico nut too. I intend to spend my semi-retirement restoring them.

I have been buying old German Magazines and books to educate myself and other viewers and scrutineers about chronological Maico Model birthing events.

You have basically summed up in your first post what has taken me years to learn and prove,
and provided pictures of such models and missing links for masses. A genuine Thank You 8)

I'm happy to see that there are other nuts out there with the same illness  ;D

I have seen this post here: http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?topic=27949.0 , and I think I can give some tipps about frame versions, tanks, forks, engines  (typs of transmission for example),  etc... 
Therefore  i'll make some posts in Mick's thread (MAICO Pre-60 Alloy Oval Barrel Blizzard Project)  or what do you mean ..?

Here is my 1964 MC250 Cinemascope, finished in 2013.





Sourcing parts for it take a long time and it was unfinished until Dezember 2012. That was the time the NSU-Museeum called for it for : http://www.zweirad-museum.de/sonderausstellung/2013-maico-moto-cross.html
So i was forced to hurry up a little ;) and it was ready for pickup in march 2013...



I'll get it back in Februar an will do the first ride on it then   ;D

I've seen you are looking for an oval barrel with center exhaust port for this projekt ?!
The Metisse you have seen with such a part is from Germany too and I know it, because I saw it as projekt bike an in the progress....

Note: The cylinder is a modified squarebarrel. They have cut the fins to the oval look ....

The tank you are looking for is very very rare in Germany too  :( !
I have just one for the WabeHa (alloy,aftermarket, handmade) and an other one on my MC 196? projekt, that i got in Dezember 2013 from Austria:


But in the 60's they often use tanks from small 50ccm bikes as: Kreidler, Viktoria, Rixe, Rabeneick or else which fits very well:
