clutch arm extention.

I've seen a few of these for sale in recent months, all to suit a YZ/IT G,J &K 250 and 465/490.  I rode a friends IT465 last weekend and didn't notice any clutch pull issues so am I missing something? I'm slowly getting my IT250J up and running for the odd vinduro later in the year so is this gizmo a 'must have' for my vinduro enjoyment or is it just another wank as I suspect?

just brought one for my yz 250h haven't used it yet but iv been told its makes the clutch light in feel ie one to two fingers somewhat like  a modern bike

Well if you want the clutch pull at least 50% lighter I suggest putting one on. All the guys I put them onto are rapt. Plus it's a one piece of machined aluminium affair ( some wankers call it billet...WTF ) it's uber trick. Get it.

The reasons for a hard working Yamaha clutch are mostly bad aftermarket cables or not necessary heavy-duty clutch springs.

With this clutch lever extensions you will only slightly cure this symptoms by changing the lever ratio (less way to release the clutch).

In my experience the original Yamaha cables work best and are worth it.

Touche' Frank, I only use Yamaha cables on my Yamahas, the grey ones on my tin tank bikes and the stock black ones on later bikes. I even use Yamaha grey cables on my hot rod bikes. For 35 bucks its worth trying this clutch actuator doo-dad although I've been taken in by snake oil fixes for imaginary problems in the past. I guess I'm just a sucker for a gizmo.

Come over to my house, pull the clutch lever in and see. Then I will remove the actuator and you can try it again.

I use featherlight cables. Better than anything Yamaha have ever made.

Firko, it's not snake oil. It's plain old leverage. Pretty simple stuff.

I'm not doubting you one second Ted, I was just making comment that many of these kind of fixes end up in the junk drawer. Trust me, I have a great collection of miracle all purpose motocross wonder products from the fabulous seventies so I've seen a few. I've bought the clutch gizmo on your recommendation so I'm not doubting its abilities at all, in the deep dark old days we used to lengthen and bend the clutch arm on our Maicos for a similar effect. Funnily enough, nobody seems to do it to their Maicos any more....I must try it on my squarie .

I was given a whole heap of billet stuff from a manufacturer in the states. Wheel spacers, adjuster knobs, inlet manifold spacers and clutch actuator extensions. The only thing I used was the extension actuators, the rest of the stuff is just bling.

I'll tell you what. If you are not happy with it I'll buy it off you for whatever price you paid for it.

I don't think I'll have to open my wallet though. You'll love it

Little known fact that Yamaha,s NOS XT 550/ IT 465 Lever + bracket have a different ratio that helps make the clutch pull lighter , you can still buy new ones. I order the pair Clutch/brake and run them on all my rebuilds.

I have heard they work really well,you really notice a difference,especially on the big bores.
