While parts for a 465 are readily available the two parts you will find unobtainable are clutch baskets and shift forks.

Seven years ago when I built my 465 I bought a trick billet one new from the UK. I cannot recall who they were but they advertised in VMX mag years ago. Check or ask if someone knows who they were. Start your search eight years ago up till say four years ago.

East coast vintage may be your only option

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I better start saving up then.
Why are they unobtainable?
Common problem with them?

No prob with them. These bikes are over 30 years old. Raced for one maybe two years and then farm hacks after that.

These bikes were designed to be raced for one year only. Just to have some part of them running now is a plus.

You can always buy a complete motor and take a punt on the basket. See if you can inspect it first

Good luck.

Even when you buy these billet baskets you still have to fu...koff the rivets and thru bolt using the best adhesive ( loctite etc ) you can find. Best to do this before installation. Then you will have something that will outlast you.

I think that I have a complete clutch for an IT465. But I am away with work at the moment and won't be able to post some pics of it until about Thursday.

Here is my IT465J clutch. It appears to have no cracks or damage other than the grooves worn in the fingers of the basket, that you can see in the picture, from the tags on the clutch plates. You could file these down if it made the clutch action notchy, but I would leave them alone if the clutch works ok. I think these alloy fingers on the basket eventually break, which is why second-hand baskets are hard to find. I would want $120 for the basket, plus postage, but would throw in the rest of the clutch as well if you wanted it. Let me know if you are interested and I will take it to the post office to get a postage cost.

Here is a pic of the back of the IT465 clutch basket  I am sure that I have another basket somewhere that came off my YZ465H race bike from back in the day. It had a damaged helical ring gear, that was caused by the nut holding the primary drive gear coming loose from the end of the crank. If I can find it, I might be able to drill out the rivets and fit another ring gear on that one, as the alloy basket was still good.

Hey mate, I will take it all, I'll send you my address via the a message on this site.

The small gear on my clutch spins freely, it doesn't have any major notches in it though.
Might do the same thing you were thinking about, get my father to make one good clutch out of the two.

Thanks a lot for being so honest about it too, at least I know what I am getting.
