Yes that is a neat build, well done.
Is that pipe an original S pipe, a direct copy, or something else again?
I’m told that the S model had a cone style pipe and I have a customer who is also doing up an S and wants an original looking pipe for it so I am curious as to what the original pipe actually looks like.
Geoff
The pipe I made myself mainly because original pipes are harder to find than rocking horse poop and there were no after market pipes that looked anything like the original. It's all in the angles..
My prerequisits with a pipe were for it to look similar to an original especially where it comes out from under the bike through up to the silencer. I wanted the stinger effect with the 22mm stinger pipe and just as important the upsweep angle of where the pipe finishes. Most aftermarkets finish too low and look more like the old CR low pipes. The silencer should finish up near the top of the rear tyre and vertically in line with the rear axle, in my view.
Even that pipe on the DMC (Dave Miller Concepts) RM125M is too low at the silencer, but that said, that pipe is a work of art and very well made... gives me a hard on every time I see it.
Geoff, I have a few dimensions (lengths, diameters etc) I scribbled down of an original I used as a giud when making mine, you can have a copy if you want. PM me if you're interested as having a more original looking M/S pipe available to your customers would be good for you.
