WTF.
When does this all start ??
So you buy something around $850 from USA and you get slugged an extra $250 from the Aus government is that right...

Well I've never heard of it and I imported 2 bikes only 2 weeks ago.  Aside from normal shipping and customs charges and the dreaded GST of course, there was no mention of a $250 processing fee.

Might just be a rumour?

I believe it started on August 1st. When I get back from the Nats I'm collecting a fair stash of parts from my shipper that I've bought in recent months. It'll be interesting to see how much I get taxed for the stuff. I have a sneaky feeling that the cheap import days are over. I'll know soon.

But that can't be Firko .. mine have just been through the customs process and there was no extra charge?

Jimmy and I share the same shipper (so does Dave come to think of it) and he mapped it out to us a few weeks ago. I'll know for sure when I pick my bits up.....(no bikes, just parts)

Hmm. I might send mine an email to see what he knows about this.
