Tried a few times Shelpi but Ken is not a 'swinger' or 'outfit' man way too straight for that!!
I reckon you're a bit tough on Ken guys. Running a magazine is often a 'can't please anyone' situation....no matter how much Ken tries to spread the bikes, makes and eras in the mag, there's always a few that will accuse him of bias against whatever bike, discipline or era they're interested in . One bloke was so certain that Ken was biased against Bultacos he withdrew his advertising, cancelled his subscription and got out of the sport
. Have any of you trolley punters ever actually nominated a particular bike for consideration? Something representative of their eras like the Black Rat or a nice Wasp Yamaha or one of those monster Maico based Zabel EMLs would be interesting to non sidecar readership. When we're so involved in a particular facet of our sport we often think that more people are interested in our passion than what is the real case. Being based in NSW as Ken and I are we haven't grown up with the sidecar culture and it's the same with the US based readership. That's not saying that sidecars don't deserve representation at all, of course they do, it's just a reality that they don't have a strong interest ratio outside of the sidecar mainstream areas. I'll be prepared to write and shoot a piece on a photogenic and/or historically interesting sidecar and pass it on to Ken. Just like it was at school when you had to put your hand up to get picked for the team, lets see some suitable "hands" from the sidecar guys.
