79 KX250/KLX250 questions

Couple of questions about fitting other parts to a 79 KX250/KLX250

-  Would a seat off a 79 KLX250 fit on a 79 KX250?  I'd have to think it would go close given the KLX frame is a KX125 frame?

-  Would a YZ 43mm front end increase the front end travel and ride height and would the rear end need to be adjusted to compensate?
     -  same question but for a 79 KLX250 frame?

Yes seat will fit  I don't know where this a KLX 250 is the same as a KX 125 frame comes from though  I hear it all the time , there similar but they sure aint the same

LOL The same frame myth might have been originally used by salesmen. I have never put them side by side but knowing the japs Im sure there is little or nothing except frame colour

Geometry might be similar ( im not clever enough to measure that  ) but they are different in many ways . I put them side by side this morning after my last post

What about putting the YZ front end on the KLX or KX, any changes to rear end needed?

Cant answer that , but im thinking of ditching the Fox forks in my 250 A5 for a Yamaha 43mm front end so will find out I guess

This is what was reported by ADB at the time of testing back in 79/80. They stated it was a modified kx 125 A5 frame. There are a lot of similarities between Kawasaki models. The KX 125 A6 and KDX 175 share alot of parts. It helps when looking for spares.
   I had a similar query recently looking for a seat for my KX 250B1. A KDX seat is nearly the same but is about an inch shorter at the rear. That's why when you see 83 model KX's with a big gap behind the seat, you'll find it's likely to be a KDX seat.

Anybody know the easiest way to fit 38mm forks in a 79 KX125, what tripleclamps to use or do I press the stem out and fit to other clamps, Thanks Col.

the KLX250 prototype was created by a small team at Kawasaki USA by shoehorning a KL250 motor into a KX125a4 chassis , once the factory Ok'd the project they built a frame based on the prototype & used the swingarm out of the KDX400 twinshocker & the KLX was born
