Some of you might have noticed a very slick YZ465 at CD5 . It was so slick that the owner was not keen to take it out and play with all the other bikes but he swears it is not a garage queen ,but then again real men dont wear slippers Hah and watch out for his missus she will gladly drink your last rum . C,mon Ted give us the real story .???http://

Not only will she steal your rum but also your last 12 JD`s

Hilly....Fitted new front axle and reset rear wheel offset this week so it is now ready for first ride tomorrow.
Seeing as this bike was built to race you had better keep your 400 ( queens bike ) away from the big bore. I would hate it to throw stones at you ( not )

Cheers fella

Thanks for the pic

The boost bottle, hose and manifold kit is an original White Bros part from that period and was fitted to the bike when i purchased it
All i did was polish it and had the original sticker re-produced

OK Hilly, rode it Sat....f..k me if i had a match i would have burnt it
Throttle stuck wide open and with f..k all front brake it got very interesting...park it for the day and start drinking and swearing
Sat nite pull throttle ( Gunnar Gasser ) apart and check it out, find and fix problem and pull front brake ( which i was told by my mechanic was as good as he could get it without me throwing more money at alloy brake arms off a later model ) apart and do the same
Sunday...Say a prayer, start it and f..k me what a difference...It is actually rideable. The thing goes like stink and stops just as well. Not for the faint hearted though.
Gotta get used to no compression braking and although the power is quite linear it isnt a patch on my KTM 530 for smoothness. A drag race i would say 530 thru 1st and 2nd, 465 thru 3rd, 4th and then the 530 would eat it.

To save someone else getting killed  :o :o  what was wrong with the throttle and the brakes.  Looking at one of those Gunner Gassers myself
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

Problem with throttle was the stops on the throttle return are 2 plastic lugs and they got ( bent over ) jammed inside the round bit ( i`m no mechanic ) and when this happens the silver bit on the end of the cable falls out the back of the housing and instant revs even though the throttle ( hand grip ) is fully closed. To fix it i cable tied the round bit to the adjuster so as it can`t fall back out and bent lugs back up straight.
Will see how long lasts but i can see a change of throttle real soon.

Front brake shoes checked out ok but was way too much play at lever ( so after mechanic says is shit, needs more money thrown at it to fix i believe him at the time ) I thought hang on these things are supposed to be the ducks guts of brakes so i just undid the lever and wind adjuster up till wheel starts to bind and wind back down half a turn and presto no play in lever and very good front brake. Hardly fu..ing rocket science.

I was just looking at a website about a restoration of a YZ125G and he too mentions that type of throttle sticking.

He's gone with a 92 yz throttle assembly with an 84 model cable. Don't know if they'll fit yours but it might be a start.

Very nice bike by the way, too manly for me though my forearms would separate under acceleration  ;D

at the risk of getting sounded down for buying outside Oz - I have bought 3 Motion Pro side pull throttles (and you can get matching cables for your model) and all are excellent units - much like the one in the photo above - I got the turbo model (anything to go faster eh!!!!)

On a 465? This is why the old kill switch should be compulsory (that's from another thread for those wondering WTF).
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

It is fitted with a new and working kill switch
Try stopping a bike at full song using just the kill switch...good luck
I stopped it by actually rolling the throttle back on ( therefore un jamming the return stop lugs, and stalling it with the back brake locked up ) I wouldn`t recommend this procedure on a suburban backyard
