Ted is your throttle a genuine made in Sweden Gunnar Gasser or one of those Taiwanese copies ?  If it's a phony remove it from the bike straight away before you kill yourself. I had a major accident back in 1995 which eventually forced me to retire from racing and I'm still bothered by the injuries. It was caused by the throttle jamming exactly the same as your situation. I've seen other Gasser copy jam ups and if I could I'd ban 'em. When I was scrutineering I always informed anybody using one that it was only a matter of time before they'd have problems with them and was often proved right.
I have a Doherty Gasser on my Maico and a genuine Gunner on another bike and there are no problems with them, it's only the cheapos.

Throttle problems cheap NOS solution
I have noticed that the YZ 490 and a YZ 85CC have the same throttle. Simply order a YZ 85 cc throttle it probably is a safer solution to your problem/. I assume that the throttle on the YZ 465 and YZ 490 is the same. In turn order a current YAMAHA YZ 85 CC throttle
Old and slow - and happy

Firko...i wish it was a copy....but no its the real McCoy bought from John Titman
I might ring him up and see if he can do anything about it
I only bought it because they were always good and they are a period part

Wow....I'll check my genuine Gasser now. I've had it since the early 80s so the plastic stopper bizzo that bends/breaks may be age hardened and ready to break off or bend and kill me. Yours being a new one is a worry.

sheesh, you gentlemen have got me worried now. my 465 has got a throttle assembly that looks very similar to what yours has got ted, only it is plastic and looks a good deal cheaper. i'm thinking a little pull apart to check those stops might be on the cards tonight.

Well thanks for the heads-up Firko and Ted, checked out my throttle assembly last night and it is about the cheapest nastiest thing ever. I have only owned this 465 for a couple of months now and the throttle assembly was one of the "new" parts the previous owner had installed on it so it's potential failure was not even in my mind. Will be sourcing another one today hopefully so I can at least have it by weekend.

Hilly,
At 15 bucks you want to hope they aren't made in China.....ever had a footpeg break upon landing from a jump? Ouch!!!
