Best looking CR I have seen - and I thought my own garage queen was awesome - but wasn't the raised Honda logo on the left hand side of the motor not painted over  ;D

I have seen & read this story about this bike before & think it's a bloody shit hot looking thing & a credit to the guy & it's built to the way he wanted ,but i note that he powdercoated the frame & the motor,I don't get that as I figure if you are gonna be so anal about using NOS & original parts only, why would you not also use the correct paint to be a 100% original resto,I have no problems with powdercoating,I have had my frame on my 79 done in it, just in this case when you have gone to all the trouble with the rest why not go all the way,In years to come a 100% correct resto would be worth more to a collector ;),Still a way cool bike that anyone would be proud to own :)

I don't think Smed is being overly critical, just curious.  Powder coating is prettier, so maybe that was his motivation? 

I'm curious about the paint on the pipe.  My low hour '78's pipe doesn't have that flat of a black paint on it.  Finding NOS parts is hard and expensive.  Finding the right black paint isn't as difficult.  "Anal is, as anal does sir."

No one says the engine doesn't look "great" Dave, just that it's not right. Same goes for the pipe as TR has pointed out.
