Overseas eBay Sales
« on: January 16, 2013, 02:20:37 pm »
I won an eBay auction for an item in Europe (I'm in the US).  I paid right away using PayPal, but the money hasn't been claimed yet.  It's been almost three days.  Are most PayPal transactions between countries delayed?  I've sold to Europe before and I thought the transactions were taken care of in a day or two.

i recently sold items on e-bay and had a problem with pay-pal.  One of the e-mail addresses listed on our paypal account is no longer in use, and the funds when sent by the buyer went to that account, meaning we were unable to claim the funds. It was a mistake one my behalf, not checking that all of the details were correct.

That's what it will be, an incorrect email address. Otherwise it would be pretty much instant.

If I remember correctly the seller has to claim the funds sent to them, otherwise it lays dormant in their account for about 30 days. If unclaimed then it is returned to you.

correct - they have to accept the funds and if not around could take some days.  Had this with KLP racing.

Really?
All paypal funds to me go straight to my account.
I think it may be true if you pay to their alternative e-mail address (non primary)

A couple of years back I made a typo in my e-mail address in e-bay and it caused myself and the buyer some grief as it went to a non existant account.
Luckily he was able to claim the payment back as it hadn't been accepted, I think because it wasn't my primary e-mail it had to be accepted by me.

I think it also depends if you are sending from a bank account or from a credit card.  Seems to take a bit longer if paypal is debiting a bank account.

Turns out it is the wrong email F-up.  He left out part of email name when setting up the sale on eBay.  Wonder how long this is gonna take to fix?

You should be able (from memory) to go into your paypal account and cancel it and you will get your money back asap seeing as it has not been claimed.

Thanks Brad!  I did that and he re-billed me, but did it in Euros instead of US Dollars, which is a $139 advantage to him.  Tricky Bastard!

It was a $399 US item, so that is a big difference.  The radar is up a little because he keeps responding to my personal email while I keep sending messages through eBay. (no trail)

Got nailed on a bikes purchase when the vendor somehow found out my alternate email address.  Ebay claimed the sale was outside of their system even though I had clicked on the ebay link to purchase.
Poke that bone back in and wrap it up tight sport - I am racing the second moto.
