YZ250H / 465H Fork Id

I have both types , the horizontal brake lug type which is off an 83 it has inner tubes that are slightly shorter than the H ones

Can anyone id the fork on the left? It is 43mm, angled brake lug and has a ridge along the front from the axle where as the one from my 250H on the right has a smooth front.

I found a set that were similar. They were from a YZ 125 K.

that fork leg on the left could be of a 1984 IT200 L, i think they're 43mm with a 1 o'clock brake stay.... but they're also Z spoke discs i think?

does it have a threaded axle tube like a YZ or does it need an axle nut like an IT ?

my 465 forks have had that rib removed before polishing by previous owner ,i got a 250 h recantly and at first i thought it had the wrong forks because it still had the rib on, if the bolt and the bottom of fork look the same then its probably what has happened to yours ,is the brake cable mount the same as from picture it is hard to tell

mmm, I'm still curious about the ribbed fork legs as all the 250/465H pics I've come across so far have smooth lowers. Except Arn says that his 250H forks have the ribbed lowers.

Zakk, I have a set of 84 IT200 forks and they are a bit shorter, especially below the axle.
Mont, I think the 83 125K would have 38mm forks.

The ribbed fork in the pic might have the right sized tube that I need, I wanted to be sure before buying it and pulling it apart. Otherwise I'm on the hunt for a set of 250/465H or 125L forks.

Just going on memory alone  could the rib/lefty be off a RM465 X,Z?

i recon you'll find the YZ125L forks are also 38mm (from memory).
i don't have a set of IT200L forks but i was suprised to see they still used the 1 o'clock brake stay rather than the 3 o'clock position stay as the IT K's used. but then nothing Yamaha used suprises me anymore 

when i fitted 43mm IT250K forks on my IT250J (38mm forks), i found the overall length to be the same BUT the 43mm forks had shorter steel tubes and longer alloy sanctions. the overall ride hight was the same as the forktubes are level with the top clamp on the 43mm forks while thay poke 65mm through the top triple clamp on the 38mm J model.


i have both 43mm YZ250K and 43mm IT250K forks and they're identical in length in both tubes and alloy sanctions. only difference is the 43mm IT forks have a single pinch bolt on the right side (the YZ has 2 bolts) and the IT forks use a axle nut while the YZ has a threaded tube, plus the YZ K forks have a plastic protection sleave over the lower leg below the axle, neither the IT K or the YZ J had this. also the internals are the same and the springs interchange.

2 clamping bolts on the right side & threaded slider for axle on brake plate side

The above is the same as on my 250 H and it has the originals on it.

looks like they were a generic kayaba fork (hey hows that parts swap over list going ?)

It was only the "LOW" numbered H's that had the non or smooth ribbed forks.

I have 2 x 250H's here & a 465H. The 465's frame & engine # are 5541 it has the ribbed fork legs.

The 250's bikes frame#'s as follows #1587 smooth legs & the other #5565 ribbed.

I have talked about this before with a mate, he remembers them as smooth when they first came out (like the 38mm G model SMOOTH legs) then they must of changed the tooling for some reason (maybe for added strength) who knows.
