Tm 250 build up
« on: May 20, 2012, 07:02:51 pm »
This was a ex  Andy Caldecott bike of which I purchsed last year. It's a 1973 frame and had most of the basics needed to make a start.

Stripped it right back and bead blasted Due  it having  a far bit of surface rust of which was not that far gone
Welded on a few tags to take Rm B style rear guards - re- shaped the rear loop more to my taste - added 2 frame threads to take seat base ( rear ) added a rear tank mount  and moved the seat frame to take the new style seat ..... Cut the shit out of the frame to remove some excess weight   ie  front frame connector and  just above the air boot junction

Here is a comparison in weights in bar frames from a TM  to TS ... a  Ts frame is much lighter

That is true as I had a ts400 frame and it was lighter than a Tm 400 frame.

Now for the seat .... I purchased a DC base and used a Rm 125 b  base as a template .... in my case I mounted the front seat bracket 10mm further forward  pushing the seat back as the tank was cutting into the cover .

You will need to make up some brackets, as the bar seat bases come blank, they are held in place with pop rivets on the foam side

The air box is another of my creations made from a pot using a Rm / Pe filter cage ( covered this in another post )
