Sydney West Dirt track Series.
« on: March 28, 2012, 08:01:46 pm »
Got my entry fom in the mail today for Nepean 15th april , came today, Slider is almost ready to go, just have to get the old RT1 out of the back shed and see if there is enough enthusiasm left in the old worn out piston to get it started.
 Who's ready to  rock on?
 cheers pancho.

I'll be there Punchy.
I'll be running Methanol in the DR for the first time, may not get a chance for a test run so it'll be interesting.
There are a lot of people working behind the scenes to raise public awareness of our beloved home track so spread the word people.

Just had a look at the revamped entry form & list of events, thanks to Jim.
One thing everyone should know is that as of now, you can only ride 1 event per bike, unless you are over 35 then you can also ride that bike in the over 35's.
It seems all the club's involved are trying to streamline the program in an attempt to get through 3 to 4 rounds per meeting.
We should all support these changes because they will obviously be a work in progress as things evolve.

One point I would like to make is regarding the Sidecars.
Surely they should be an Allpowers class, usually we are lucky to get 2 - 3 competitors in each of the 2 current classes, just an observation
I'm not against the sidecar boys, even if they are kinda strange :D

Yeah slides, getting a full three rounds in will be good.

With adds in the local press coming up and the new promotion 'Sydney West Series' tag, hopefully will mean a renewed spectator interest and bigger gate takings.

Unfortunately I can't make it to Sat. practice [which I could use!]
Hope there's a lot of sliders!

Cheers pancho.

Can pre 85 bikes enter?
The entry form only states pre 75,78 and evo.
As for limiting entries to one bike one event, it seems to me will only mean less rides for your $.

Ok, willing to try most things once. But what about pre 85 bikes?
Cos if they have been dropped then that equals zero rides.

As I said it's a work in progress.
Let's just suck it and see, I'm sure it'll be flexible given the support recieved for each class.
One thing I did notice is that we now require a breast plate with our number on the back, how soon do we need to have one ready and what happens to the guy's who don't have a registered race number?
Pre85 will need to be confirmed sprint76 but EVO is pretty close, probably just an oversight.
Micks?

At the last club meeting [2nd wed every month pceway] I questioned about the new GCRs ruling on number on back of all riders.

  My question was,
Is this rule only applicable to open events, or is it mandatory at this stage for club events and/or will it be.

At this stage no clarification has been forthcoming.

  Cheers pancho.

Hi sprint76, whilst i dont speak for the City of Penrith Club (SydneyWest Series Promoters) my understanding is what the club have always run what they call the "classic" classes which are not period or year specific but cater  for pre 74, pre 78 and Evo. In short must be air cooled have no link suspension and no disc brakes. Whilst i am not a model/specs/year guru some pre 85 bike will be fine.

Hope this helps

Does that apply to us old bastards riding old bikes?
If so will there be some flexability at our first club round of the year?
I know you've got me by at least 20 Wally, these days I'm feeling every year.

According to the news letter and entry back numbers are in for every body,

rear sprocket guards are also in but it would appear from what I saw at the Barry Sheene Event,

bits of plastic ,  cable tied,    to the swing arm got some bikes through
