The '81 model CRs had an aluminium water pump cover, not magnesium like the later CRs, so it won't be corroded. I'd reckon a new seal is due young fella. They're still available from Honda.

The Honda Shop is asking YOU for the Honda part number??!! ???
Isn't that what Honda parts counters and Honda Sales Staff are for - to advise the customer from their Honda database??!!

I'm sure someone on the forum will help with this Tom, but I am f*ckin' gobsmacked at that!!

The shop is fairly new to this area and arent equipped to look up the part numbers straight out of a book so they have to spend some time ringing honda and researching but in that time they might missout on a sale of a new CRF so i don't think my bike parts are top priority   :D  but any one on here that could help much appreciated Tom

Tom , you're certainly a fair minded young fella.
If this new Shop hopes to be in business this time next year, let's hope they realise customer service is just as important as new bike sales.

Life's simple Tom, if the pricks at the bikeshop won't help you, don't buy from them.
How the hell are you supposed to know the part #, you're not a bike shop. Luckily, you know someone who can help.

The part number is 19217-657-003. If I need genuine parts I've been using Sydney City Motorcycles at Campbelltown, they are one of the bike shops who actually give a shit about the old bikes. If you want a hand to do the water pump I'm happy to help. If you pay for the parts I'll stick them in for you, I might even give you some shroud and swingarm stickers for the old girl to finish it off.

Well done Tom ;)
I also had the pleasure of doing a CR125RB resto for my son Michael. Bloody quick little bike in the end
Be careful when you ride it and ensure the engine is up to temp before thrashing it!!
they had a nasty habit of "cold seizure"
Take "Maggo" up on his offer to fix the water pump ::)
his mechanical skills are as good as his riding!! ;D

G'day thanks for all the info fellas the parts arrived late friday arvo now i've been trying to figure out how these seals go in.My instruction manual dosent say how, the biggest seal i have sorted no probz there but the smaller seal thats closer to the centre engine case has to different sides 1 white and the other black so what way is it spose 2 face?does it matter what way it faces? im hoping to wack it all in there tonight to leave time for other repairs 4 CD5  :-[ so any help much appreciated Tom
