  Is the barrel ok as it looks like the rod is slightly bent also.
   Was it over due for a piston and  has dropped the skirt resulting in this ???

ooooohh - that's not meant to look like that  :o

 I had a chunk of piston skirt try to get out the inlet port of my 125 Canam once. Trouble with that was it didn't get out quick enough and the rotary disc caught it halfway out. 9000rpm to 'oh shit' in a nanosecond! Didn't look quite as dramatic as the Mont but it took ages to untwirl the peeled disc out of the cases. Sorry for the hijack :-*

The cylinder liner was broken as well. The engine cases are ok. Piston clearance was at
.0035" when checked a couple of months prior to the explosion. (installed new rings)
It was a Mahle piston.

shite jared it has let go big time
i had a kx500 do this it was a standard cast piston
same result sleeve gone rod bent alloy everywhere
follow me to first turn
