PE250X

I’m grateful for the original PE 250 that I found and chose to restore and over the past 9 months have been exactly that. Today I started the last chapter of the resto – the engine! Up until now it’s been smooth sailing, but seriously previous owner, you must have shares in Loctite! This was one bitch to dismantle! FYI, if you’re wondering why it wouldn’t start after  you put a new plug and fuel into it – the crank seal was as spat out as gum on a foot path! Sorry for the long winded guff into my frustrations -  but does anyone know about sourcing primary drive tab washers for a 1981 PE 250?

I did a complete PE250X engine a few months back.
Everything is still available from Suzuki as far as I recall.
I used eBay and Suziparts, but anybody should be able to get you the bits you need.

Bob Hamilton on the PE list reworked the end of one of his. Came out well, but not a trivial exercise.
All the PE250/400's should have/need a deep nut covering the end of the threaded area to grab more threads.
Bob machined up a swag of them and sent them out to people.
My 250 and 400's both have them now.

As to a stuck magneto rotor, you are in between a rock and a hard place..
A sharp tap and they usually shift.  but whack it and you risk damaging a VERY hard to find part...

If the thread is mushroomed over get a small file or use a dremal  and bring it back down to close to same OD slowly working the nut back and forth ......  thread   is 10mm X 1.25 pitch .
Buy a can of  " Loctite freeze and release".....  works a treat

YES .....   A rod from a Ski-Doo   779 triple   93/97 model.
They are made by both  HOT RODS  or  Pro X

Same rod fits  Pe   250   1980 / 1981

I run the SEADOO conrod in my 80 PE250 and it whilst it wasn't a strait swap, there was no issues making it work. From memory you buy the con rod kit from Pro-X and use the rod, big end bearing and pin. You have to re-use the genuine Suzuki thrust washers and ditch the ones that come in the kit. If my memory serves me correct you have to remove 4/5mm off the length of the big end pin to make it the same lenth as the suzuki item. There was also something about the small end bearing, i think that it might have been a Honda part. All in all i think that it comes out almost 1/2 the price of a genuine rod before you buy the other parts to go with it.
