QTRA and Queensland Vinduros
« on: November 18, 2011, 01:54:11 pm »
Ok, all you fellow Queensland Vinduro wannabe's out there - we need to get off our fat arses and get some Vinduros organised for next year!

It's just not good enough that there are regular Vinduros down south, and yet we can't even get one event a year up here in Gods Own Enduro Country!

Back in around 1971 the QTRA (Queensland Trail Riders Association) was started to organise trailrides and enduros for the ever increasing numbers of trailbike owners around South East Queensland.  And in 1972/73 they moved into Enduros, organising some of the first Enduros in Queensland.

How about we get the QTRA going again?

I'm not talking about an MA affiliated club, but just a group of like minded Vinduro and ex-Enduro riders to help provide the impetus, enduro knowledge and manpower to some of the VMX clubs around South East Queensland to run a Vinduro or two each year.

Any thoughts from you Vinduro bike owners and ex-enduro riders out there?

haha - yep, timing s everything.

I saw that after hitting 'Post' on this topic..

I'm looking forward to it already, and glad it's happening, but I still think we need more!!!   ;D

Hell, why can't there be one Vinduro a month like happens down south!

We have access to a great block of land , about 700 acres between Blackbutt and Crows Nest . But how do you run one of these events, ie insurance etc ?

As long as it's run by an affiliated club as a trailride or club practice day, under the auspices of MQ, then you're covered by the MQ insurance scheme.

i.e. everyone who enters has to have an MA licence or pay for a one day licence.

Tony, as per my previous post, the Toowoomba Motor Cycle Club has around 500 acres at it's disposal at Murphy's Creek. We can run a good Vinduro there under MQ, it's a registered venue. I'm a licensed level 3 Enduro Steward & CofC. Show me through this post how much interest is out there to run a Vinduro at Murphy's Creek. Tony, I'll also phone you tomorrow. Lawrie

Lawrie, the one at Green Park on the Sunshine Coast will be run in June or July. The club is not hosting the CD8 next year so there will be a heap of riders looking for a ride. Would you be interested if your vinduro was succesful, running a second one later in the year at our Crows Nest Block ?
On a side note the Qld Enduro Sub Committe has started a separate class for the Vinduro bikes to race in this year. Numbers have been small mainly because vinduro riders are probably unaware ........

Yes, and Victorian Vinduro’s are non-competitive so you only need a recreational one day licence which is much cheaper.
I think a lot of other associated fees are cheaper running it this way also and the casual atmosphere seems to attract good support.

looks like Vinduro might 'come of age' in Qld.
I had no idea MA or the Enduro sub-comittee had a vinduro class........... 'til now
My son is keen too so I had better start checking out the classes.

Good to see Qld is going to have Vinduro race's on there calendar, only wish they would start a Vinduro race or 2 down vic, as I would be very keen to enter.

Cheers Mick.
