What’s your training regime?
« on: October 09, 2011, 10:08:53 am »
Having discovered VMX late last year, Carl Blecher was kind enough to lend me a bike at Lake Glenbawn. Being my first ride in anger for 25+ years my body was in a state of shock for a few days after! In addition to the camaraderie, the hunt of searching for obscure parts on eBay in the early hours of the morning, the relaxation of working on the bike and of course the exhilaration of racing, getting bitten by the VMX bug has inspired me to get fit again. So much so that I crave now my workouts. At 51, I am now fitter than I have been since my 20s! Lucky enough to live near the beach I run in the soft sand 3ks every second day and paddle a kayak 4Ks every other day. I loved Motocross as a teenager and now I remember why. What a great, fun & healthy thing to do.

I've introduced her previously but here is my private trainer ;D.

I walk her through the bush most nights for an hour or so - often cross country, up and down the Georges River Gorge country here in Campbelltown NSW.

Other than that it is rub down a tank or two,  buff a side cover, remove a thirty year old tyre or two, etc ;D

And not to forget the bedroom athletics ;). Just thinking about it give me a cardiac workout these days ;D.

Ahhh the sneaky home MX track, the truth comes out! As we all know, there is nothing like riding for bike fitness.

I got worried when I read the thread title for this one.

Having read the replies, I'm no longer concerned  :P

My workout starts by loading the van, then I sit on the rear step for some breathing exercises and a smoke.

Seriously, who has time for training?

Get out on your bike instead, best way to train surely?

Hey MX250, that seems like a great spot and great way to stay healthy. She's a beautiful looking pooch too. Spend a bit of time practicing at Appin do you?
