yamaha monoshock rebuild

thinkin about gettin my yz250g monoshock rebuilt soon but having
trouble picking out a suspension specialist to do the job, i aint sending
it to that race techer down the highway again that duded me this time last year...
anyways ive noticed the technik add in the vmx mag and was wondering has anyone
had there shock rebuilt by them and what were the results like ...bit pricey though...
or can walter make me a new shock for the same price

A new shock from Walter is about $990, last time he mentioned it.
The new, steel body is gonna be hard to beat...
But $990 is more than any rebuild should ever cost.

I agree with Nathan.SOS did the front and rear of my 125d with amazing results.So good that I am sending my 250g shock to him today!

Guys I am a few weeks away from doing my RM465 shock and forks, I need them fully serviced and heavy duty springs (too many pies!)

I was taking them to Technic but I agree they were going to cost $600 -$700+ for the above

Are the SOS mentioned the ones in Penrith NSW?

Bitten, if the price you are talking includes new springs front and rear, then i would say that it is a fair price. figure around $160-180 each end for springs, then i think it would be not too bad considering. I had a friend call them just this week, and they quoted around $250 for a XR250 shock service only. You have to remember that a lot of our old bikes have had a hard life, many are approaching 40 years old if not more, and shock bodies, shafts, seal heads etc wear and can sometimes be a real pain in the ass even to get apart. i have had to resort to using components from different manafacturers, and machining pistons, bodies etc to take them when bits are nla, or things are that worn they are u/s.

im on the mid north coast of new south wales !
never heard of sos have to look into that one...
also have to get the forks done as well ..
 both the fork legs need rechroming, has anyone had this
done an how much would that cost

Fair call 311, I haven't really looked around to scope the suspension stuff out as yet so will look around.

We can most definitely service your forks and shock. Rough price is about $150 for each end plus any wear parts like seals, bushes etc. It only blows out if you need any rechroming work which is $165 for the shock shaft and $440 for both fork legs if needed.

In addition we have our t-valve V4S cartridge type emulators for the forks at $199. They are DIY but we can also install them for $220 plus wear parts instead of the $150 quoted above.

On the shock, for $220 plus wear parts instead of the $150 quoted above we can revolve the shock. We may also be a le to retrofit a t-valve to the shock as well, but we'd have to wait until we open it to see if it will fit.

Heavier springs for the front would be $198 and a heavier shock spring wouldalso be $198.
