Channel 0 track at Broadford bring back to life.

I would like to see MAV or MA bring back to life is the old channel O track, regrade it, shape it to suit the pre 78 era to pre 60 bikes, utilitise the era and make it specially for this era as it once was, and the currant track can be used for the pre 90 bikes, l noticed this year the pre 75 bike numbers where done, look after the old bikes and their riders.

I think to look at using the old Channel 0 natural terrain track for pre 78 bikes at HBBB would be a great idea. I think it would inspire more pre 78, 75, 70, 65 and 60 owners to get the bikes out of their sheds and go and enjoy this great event as much as the dirt track, enduro, trials and roadrace guy's are doing. The pre 90, 85 and Evo guys would probably enjoy having the main MX track to themselves if it is prepared for their bikes and not the old stuff. Your on the right track(so to speak) SR250

Broadford has a new site manager and he is a very nice young fellow and likes the old bikes and keen to improve broadford.

I raced it .Ron Dinsdale won A grade . They interviewed him ., he said "where was everyone?" having a dig because it was so dusty that if you weren't in front you couldn't see.

The old track would suit the old bikes just find, I was a flagman at the first banaza meeting a third of it being used, the fellow had a good ride on it.

Tell you what if a 70's sympathetic track was created and could be accessed on a regular basis then count me in. Your onto something Dave! J

With guidance from the 70`s ex-racers and other helpers and the track manager at broadford, we could restructed  and repair the channel O track back to it form of glory over a period of time, management on site would need a lot of help from enthusiast, if it was to go ahead it would be maintain to suit that era of machines only and l stress only pre 78 through to the sixties, I would like to see other venues on site, like speedway meetings motocross meeting  so money can be raised to restruct the channel O track.

It was a medium speed track. I raced my RM 370 there over many rounds, and only ended up in Hospital once (ran off the track at speed, hit a boulder, then was run over by the guy following me. I couldn't see the track for dust, and the guy behind just followed me straight off ). Oh , and I flipped it once crossing the finish line......how embarrassment !! The finish straight was right near the current supercross track.  They used to pour barrels and barrels of old sump oil on the track to try and combat the dust. It really didn't work, and made patches of the track slippery as !!! One of the highlights of the series was sitting on the line ready, next to Grant Hodgson, when a helicopter landed and we were told to shut down. Out of the chopper appeared this large figure of a man who strolled straight down to the line and started talking to me for a minute or two, and then Grant. All the while being filmed by the Channel 0 team. He then went back to the chopper and off he went. It was "Big Malcolm Fraser" :-). The track was getting a bit of a reputation for being dangerous, and it was Semi Final day. The last thing Dad said to me as I left home that morning was " It's better to come last at the Semi, than to be first at the Cremi " !!!!! A very wise man. Great memories....those were the days.  Bring back the Channel 0 track....................

The Channel O track was great but without the sprinkler system the current MX track has the dust would be a killer.  I remember racing there on my RM125, you really couldn't see anything!  They could probably build the jumps up a bit too as there wouldn't be cars on now (we hope).

Speaking of Channel O (and Mr Motocross), does anyone know if Ray Owen Park is still there in Wallan?  I just moved to Wallan, I'm going hunting to see if I can find it.
