Suzuki Forks?
« on: June 24, 2011, 08:33:15 pm »
I was told they were Suzuki RM400 forks. I can't find an exact match on the parts catalog. The main difference is these have solid mounted (not rubber mounted) handle bars.

I think they originally had fork gaiters.  Those are after market wipers/dust seals. They are 38mm.

The other distinguishing feature is what appears to be cast in number plate mounts (centre top and bottom triples).

I'm thinking of selling them if anyone is interested.

Looking up Alpha Sport site, the PE250C comes close back the handle bar mounts are flat where these slope backwards.

By the shape of top clamp I'd say they are Pe ....have a look behind bottom triple to see if there is a screw hole on LHS.

Roger that ;). Looks 6mm thread.

All of the PE's I have looked up have flat handlebar mounts.

Looking up Alpha Sport they could be a number of PE models, '80, '81, and '82, 175 and 400. Further investigation required.

Not sure if your saying the wipers are 38mm or the fork legs are? If they are 38mm forks i would say 82-84 PE175. If they are 36mm then i would say 80-82 PE250/400 or 80-81 PE175 or 82 DR250Z or D  Internally you can tell if they are off a early or late PE250/400.That hole on the back of the triple is the speedo cable guide hole so that will give you your answer ;)

They are 38mm fork legs so 82-84 PE175 it is.

I'll throw them in for nothing, although the forks will cost you $200 ;D.

They are in very good nick. Someone has polished the triples to a chrome like finish. The fork legs are dirty and unpolished but with scarcely a mark on them (unusual for dirt bikes, normally have a few battle scars from passing rocks etc).
