Mark, provocative??? ..No....but...the rule and its intention suit what we are doing nicely....it is the interpretation by some people that irks me....those up and thru the frame pipes ..particularly the ones to suit Huskys really get under my skin....has no real representation of the "era" we are trying to preserve and bear no resemblence to how the bikes where in the day......now where were we..oh yes Can-Ambulances....if anyone is interested I know where there is a genuine factory (used by Jimmy Ellis) up pipe for a Can-Am here in WA...

Mark, I present my own equipment to my standard..if someone else wishes to do stuff to their bikes ....well....do you run around talking to every Maico owner about their bikes??...  I am not in control of other Husky's just like your not in control of other Maico's...you've missed the point...recreate the era.... Have a look back thru the mags of the time.....that is what we should be presenting..the stuff that was being ridden....

Jeez this is a hard call ain't it.

How do you separate the guys that are sticklers for originality who have a real case yet one of the best things about the early/mid 70's was the mods you could do and that was awesome so they have a real case too - I'm in that group, prove it's period and I have no trouble with it.

It's a shame the people who never watched "On Any Sunday" and are in it just to win a class today are part of the latter group and want to push it to the limit and of course over.

That's exactly my point Brian.....I go to great lengths to build bikes that are pretty damn true to the era yet none of them are stock. Sometimes I might use a later design pipe or a side pull throttle instead of what was around in the era but generally my bikes are pure to the era they're built to race in. Does that make them ilegal? Are you saying that we must keep our bikes 100% factory standard? Many of my bikes are specials, where do they fit into your vision?  Because my Cheney Yamaha 360 has a reproduction pipe made for a YZ360A are you telling me that my bike is ilegal for pre '70? If that's the case I might as well leave it at home rather than drive for two days to the Nats in September to be protested out of the event, like your mate Lawson was going to do to me at Coffs Harbour if my bike had beaten his.
