Bill and Nancy have delivered us to DFW after a great meal of catfish, thanks again Bill and Nancy, wonderful people. Started Daves Honda after a wash and it sounds a bit second-hand, no wonder after the work it has done. It really is a sweet ride, Dave rode it to its potential and put on a great show, well done mate.

Dave has been up in Iowa visiting Jeff Hawbaker, he had a ride on his 500, that is possibly the fastest XL/XR in the world, Jeff was good friend with the legend Pat Orman.

Jeff is one smart dude, I rode the bike in the picture it pulls the front wheel up with no effort in 5th gear runs on hi octane petrol breathing thru a 48 mm carby  that is tuned to perfection. Jeff also  hand made his own cylinder from billet to suit the XL making it 780cc . Took some cool shots of engine things but they stay with me . Cause Jeff has got lots of guns !!!!
Did some maths on the bikes Pete & I rode over here the poor things did 92 miles spinning at 10,000 rpm
over the 4 race meetings. My Champion frame broke the swing arm bolt in half at Goodlands(borrowed Peter's rocket to do the main,broke the LH side of the swingarm off at the pivot(Colby) .Luckly Garry from Lightshoe was at every meeting making & repair steel shoes .He was kind enough to weld my bike back together . She is one very 2nd hand bit of gear at the moment .Will be getting a make over for next year if I don't buy Jeff's missile.

Hey Mates !!!
Just wanted to say that Nancy and I enjoyed having Pete & Colleen and Dave & Kelly  stay with us during their Holiday over here in the USA.
We look forward to have them come again next year.
We hope to come over there one of these days.
On a less happy note,Pete and Sue Lawson were supposed to come over this week from WA but he had a crash a couple of weeks ago and was unable to make the trip.
He may try to come next spring for Diamond Don's.

Yes -the risk of a crash is greater when you actually ride regularly as opposed to that of the regular polisher

Regular polisher....that's me, ya gotta keep 'em shiny and nice , but Mr Lawson's face plant quota would have to be triple the national average, he must be made of sponge rubber. I hope he gets over his latest with no permanent damage.

One of my wifes co-workers stopped by the house today and was looking at my bikes and told me he worked for Champion frames back in the day and had rented a room from the owner for about 4 months when he lived in the San Francisco bay area back in the day. Small world.

Nearly ready to head off for Colleen and I's first trip to Florida, the TBC was a great event and helped sort out the new 520cc engine I have been developing with help from Jeff Hawbaker. I broke another basket at the Bayliss, Jeff said it would so have banded a new one to take with us.

That's the broken one, it is out of an FT500, they are much stronger than the early XL version. Probably a good guide to how much power the thing is making, I used one in the 600+ engine in 2013 and never had an issue.
